how to prevent it or treat it?

A good way to prevent it is to exfoliate before and after. I use just some sugar scrub from target, it doesn't really matter much. It will help remove a lot of dead skin. Also make sure your razor isn't old. The older it is the duller it is, which isn't good to be using. Make sure you moisturize right after getting out of the shower too, and hopefully you own't have this problem anymore

@Kayli H. What scrub is it you use from target? I've been meaning to pick up one to have on hand but don't really know of any brands from stores like target to look in to/pick up.

Take asprin and mix it with honey and lemon and the asprin helps with the swelling of the bumps and the redness of it it may sting a little at first but it helps a lot to prevent less of a sting don't add lemon and add olive oil for moisturizing and soothing it helps so much with razor burn n razor bumps

I just use the Boots one, it's $20 I think but I found a kit that came with the scrub, a body butter, and a body wash for like $21 on the bottom shelf underneath it. I don't know if they still have that but if they do I highly suggest it. The body wash is really moisturizing, which is weird, but really nice. Just be aware the scrub is VERY abrasive- a little goes a long way. I really like that though, it's just something to know

I started using hair conditioner instead of shaving creams and gels to shave and it went away...and of course exfoliate really well :)

A good razor is key. I have been using Gillette Mach 3 for twenty years and I've never gotten razor burn from it.

I use ky jelly I know weird, but it helps a lot. I also use a men's raiser because its sharper and has more blades. You should avoid going over the same area to many times, most people shave in an upward motion but its better to shave downward or whichever way your hair grows. You should also wash the razor after each stroke and I always soak my razor in alcohol after each use.

Shaving daily will hurt at first but your skin will get used to it fast and then you won't get razor burn anymore. Deodorant on the area after shaving is great for razor burn. And Sally Hansen has an anti bump spray that I like!

If you get razor burn and apply moisturiser straight after you'll find a lot of the time it STINGS real bad. But I have found that if you use BABY OIL that you don't get the sting at all! You apply it when you've finished your shower/bath while your skins still wet.
This the only thing I have found that doesn't make my legs sting after I've shaved them! Moisturisers tend to have a lot of chemicals and fragrances in but baby oil is made for babies sooo... :)

And like camille said, I use conditioner instead of shaving gel or foam etc, tends to soften the skin more

I have a massive problem with razor burn, so I always use a good razor and shaving cream, then apply Dettol hand sanitizer and moisturizer afterwards. It can sting a bit, but it works really well and I rarely have a problem with it anymore!

I agree with Sheena. Tend Skin is amazing! Always exfoliate before shaving, never after. I prefer to use a men's razor and conditioner instead of shave cream.

Baby oil is mineral oil, not good for you at all.
