I posted this already but worded it badly lol so here it is again. I take very good care of my hair (no heat ever) so I have no split ends at all, but the last few inches of my hair are on the dry side. I was thinking maybe it's dry from lack of protein? (because I do moisturise a lot). So if I use a protein pack on my hair would it help with dryness or just make it worse?

I don't know about a protein pack but you could mix 1 table spoon mayo 2 table spoon olive oil/ coconut oil and one egg and apply it to your head or ends for 20 mins. Then shampoo out and have a regular shower.

Try the strand test to see if your hair needs moisture or protein. take a hair that's fallen out naturally (still has the bulb ) wet it pull between both hands if it stretches and stretches and dosent return to its natural state you need protien. if it snaps immediately you need moisture. stretches and breaks you need both. stretches then returns to its natural state you are balanced. protein everyone once in a while will not hurt your hair but like chanel said protein over load w make it dry. you should follow a protein treatment w a moiaturizing one too
