Use a wide tooth comb, not a brush
Also there are leave in conditioners that help a lot. You should look into one

I have afro like hair lol and it is so freaking hard to manage!! Just unstead of starting from the roots to the tips start from the tips and work your way down to the roots.

My hair gets greasy but I can try to leave in a little, and I do start at the ends of my hair and work up to the roots but my hair still poofs

My hair is curly and poofy so I use Paul Mitchell super skinny serum mixed with whatever curl product I'm trying because I constantly switch around

Serums are a poofy girls best friend. also try using a diffuser when blowdrying. I know this sounds strange but when in the shower, after you shampoo, add some olive oil to the middle and the ends of your hair and leave on for a few minutes. don't add to the roots tho, then you add conditioner and rinse it out. do this twice a week and it will naturally tame your frizz.

Also rinse hair with cold water when your about done in your shower, it closes the cuticle and lessens the frizz. after you comb it, get it wet again either in the sink or with a spray bottle then let it air dry. this last tip, my friend swears by.
