Only with bleach or a color remover which in my opinion is less damaging.

Shampoo it with clarifying shampoo very frequently. That will fade it significantly. I've done this myself.

Try Color Oops! It strips any harsh dark dyes you've put on your hair. but you need to redye it after you strip the color away. Its sold at Walgreens or if you don't have one near you, you can order it off Amazon. Beware it smells terrible but it'll get the job done. I dyed my hair black about 6 times, I used it twice to get the best results & it gave me a super light brown/orangey/copper color, I dyed a light brown over it & got a natural light brown color that I loved. :)

Colour B4!! Takes you straight back to your natural colour, unless you've used bleach in the past. I've used it a couple of times to get black out and it's AMAZING! Just wait a couple of weeks after using it before dying it again or it will revert back to black :)

I recommend using a clarifying or purifying shampoo first. I have used Ion's Clarifying Shampoo from Sally's and it usually makes enough of a difference for me to dye over another color after a few uses. If you just want a lighter color, this may just fade it. This is the least damaging route, so I recommend giving it a try before you pick up a color remover or bleach. Also I recommend Color Oops over any other color stripper because it does not have bleach in it but almost ever other color remover on the market contains bleach. Color Oops can be found at an drugstore or Ulta, but not Sally's. That will turn your hair a strange color, so you'll have to dye over it. If you have long or thick hair, I would recommend having a second box on hand, just in case. My hair isn't very long, but I usually need more than one bottle. Just research ingredients of the removers before picking one out and make sure they don't contain ammonia or peroxide. Pick up some deep conditioner and give your hair a nice treatment also, your hair will be thanking you! Good luck.

I used color oops it worked well for me in the past a few times but another cheap way is to grab normal head and shoulders and use that on your hair (coming from my friends hairdresser) or dish soap works as well

There is a product called ColorB4 which is amazing! I've used it and it doesn't damage your hair although it smells like eggs whilst its working its magin! I'd recommend buying 2 boxes of the extra strength version to ensure you get all of the unwanted colour out. Good luck 😄
