It depends on if you use hard wax or strip wax and if you're getting it done or doing it yourself. just waxed (attempted to anyways) my armpit with Sally Hansen hard wax and it hurt SO BAD and next time I'm going to opt for strip wax and getting it done rather than me doing it and pulling it off slowly when a pro could do it and make it hurt for a short time rather than torturing me.

I use cold wax and it does not hurt anywhere as much as bikini waxing. actually I find armpits to be the least painful of all the areas to be waxed :) my go to wax is the sally Hansen wax strips. However! if you regularly shave and your armpit hair is thick and short you can either buy a hard wax (its the only kind that removes such thick and coarse hair) or let it grow out. Both of these first time options are equally painful, but you have to do what you have to do. from then on waxing gets much easier

@ shelby 2 days is not enough, the shorter it is the harder it is for the hair to remove, I wax underarms and for me it hurt wayyy less than eyebrows

The hair should be around like 3-4 cm. It's so the wax has something to stick to. But make sure it isn't too long or else it won't work as well and will hurt a lot more when you rip it off. Lol I hate waxing my armpits because when you have to grow it out those few cm it starts to prickle you. It can last 2-4 weeks and when it grows back the hair follicles will be a lot thinner. You can put coconut oil (or any type of oil) on afterwards to sooth it but try to stay away from using lotions and deodorant for the first two days because the chemicals can irritate it even more.

I get Brazilians and can't relate to pain. It stings for a few seconds and that's it. It's no biggie in my view. Good luck. :)

Shelby: oh my god I meant yo type soft hahahaha I don't know how I switched the words :'( I'm so sorry I don't think cold wax is a thing. I usually just put almond or sunflower oil after. I find that the pain only lasts seconds and I don't really need much else :)

Another suggestion, if I may, is if you like the results of waxing without the mess it might be well worth it to invest in an epilator :D I have one and love it!

Ouch! Anupa how can you stand it? Lol it's like a little machine with a bunch of tweezers on it that pull out individual hairs.

It hurts the same as waxing and its exactly what Moni said :) I've had mine for years because I use it on my legs and arms, occasionally on my underarms (I switch between that and waxing for my armpits depending on my motivation level of the day haha)

Shelby I got it done and it hurt like @#!/ but it last 15 days for me.. It depends on how fast your hair grow.

Just like any kind of wax you get, the more its done the less it hurts, I had my underarms waxed on saturday as I am in training to become a beauty therapist and honestly it shouldn't hurt too bad, your hair should be atleast a cm. Applying aloe vera or after wax spray helps the redness, also the more you get it waxed the slower the hair growth will become, oh and use hot wax! we advised not to use strip in our clinic for senstive areas, hot wax will also help to get the smaller finer hairs, hope I helped :)

Welcome :) apply the hot wax in circles that usually helps pick up all the hairs, goodluck :)

Nothing compared to bikini lol don't worry. the area is so small anyways so its super fast. youve been through worse. I have veryyyy thick hair and it grows back in 2 weeks. where as when I shave its like a day -_-
