BOBBY PIN just flatten it out and voila i was skeptical too until yesterday it works perfectly and if u want a smaller dot just use less polish on the tip or dot the polish off once or twice and by teh third dot it will be small

Use the flat end of a sewing pin. Just stick the pointy end into a pencil eraser and now you have a dotting tool.

What I use for a dotting tool is I bent a bobby pin so it is straight and it works just fine or like Cher W. said u can use a toothpick or a safety pin

You can create your own by getting a toothpick and dipping it in polish. Once that polish dries, dip it again. The more you dip and dry the bigger the dot will be. DIY !
