Hey ladies,
I'm getting my hair done in a few days and I want to get it coloured. I've recently heard of 'hair
chalk'. I have short layered pixie hair (and shaved on one side as you can see in my profile picture) so I don't know if that makes a difference... But does anyone know anything about it?

Sorry this should go in the hair category but my posts don't come through unless they go into the beauty category...

Hair chalk mostly is used for dip dye or ombre. It also won't stay in forever after you have showered, the colour gets less every time you wash it.

Hair chalk washes out so if you want the.color to stay don't get it.

I purchased hair chalk once from Ulta. It was by the brand Splat and I bought the "dusty rose" color. It was like a glittery pink. It really sucked. I have dark hair, but it barely showed up at all. I set it with hairspray like the directions said, but it still got all over my clothes. And lasted, it faded within 2 hours. If even.
So for try a different brand.

@Antonia Hair chalk is most effective on light hair. If the colour doesn't show then you should try dampening your hair first.
Hair chalk could be a good way to try out a hair colour before actually dying it, but it will probably be time consuming.
Hair chalk also makes your hair feel really dry and gross (especially chalk pastels). Use hair chalk if you just want to make your hair interesting for a day or something. c:

I used my Hot Huez for the first time ever today, and I made up a little song about my thoughts on it; it's to the tune of Ted's song, F*** You Thunder:
F*** you hair chalk
You can kiss my butt
You ain't worth it
Cuz you just plain suck
Sorry if it offends anybody, but that's MY thoughts on it. You all have your own opinions. I actually use my pastels from my art set to color my hair! You would probably look pretty cool with colored hair Kirin; go for it! If you get them to work anyway...
The little sponges come out of the holders, and you have to use teeny-weeny sections of hair with Hot Huez. It takes forever.

And btw, I keep hearing that hair chalk works better on light hair. Apparently, that's the opposite in Vegas. Today was colored hair day, and everyone who had black hair came to school with neon pink, blue, or purple hair.
