Helloooooo ladies. So I've been dying my hair red for about 2 years but now I'm really thinking about trying out the pastel hair colors. I'm just wondering how a person with thin and fine hair like mine would go about getting it light enough to apply those lighter colors. Any other info about how damaging and maintenance on pastel colors would also be appreciated! Thank you thank you.

Well you'd probably have to bleach it platinum blonde to be able to have pastel colors. I don't know about maintenance because I've never had pastel hair.

If you want pastel colors you would definitely have to bleach it white like Lili said. And since you said you have fine thin hair them you would end up with a lot of split ends and breakage. It might be less damaging to bleach it if you go to a hair salon but I know for a fact that if you want it bleached white you will have to bleach your hair once a month to gradually lighten it. I bleached a strand of my hair over the summer and dyed it purple..I used vegetable based dyes which conditioned my hair preventing any further damage but those are only Demi permanent:/

They're both right..my hair was just a pastel color I had to dye my hair damn near white which was harsh because I have naturally dark hair.. also keep in mind that a lot of times pastel color doesn't stick very well so you may have some light blonde streaks in there.

Bleach once and if you have shwartzkopft L+ lightening dyes where you are, use them to continue going lighter after the first bleach, they'll damage your hair much less than bleach but do the same thing. It really depends on the amount of dye in your hair/colour buildup. If your planning to bleach make sure you try to fade your current hair colour as much as possible before lightening. Also, be ready to get a trim and purchase a nice maroccan or argan oil to keep it moisturised. :)

And about keeping your pastel colour longer, buy a bigggg bottle of conditioner. Apply one Drop of the colour or dye you're putting In, mix it and do this as often as you want or whenever you notice it washing out. :)

Just a heads up. A peer of mine in cosmetology had red hair for awhile and wanted to go teal but when she bleached her hair it turned pink. Her hair was stained from the red coloring I think she had to use a color stripper
