Hi everyone,
I recently decided to pursue being a freelance makeup artist and I am having a rather cumbersome time getting clients. I have tried almost every way imaginable to build clientele such as visiting local nail salons, hair salons, models, created a Model Mayhem page, styleseat, facebook, instagram, reached out to socialites in my city, etc. Please offer any suggestions. I greatly appreciate your help.

Do your friends makeup and have them model your skills to other ppl - at work, school. Build your portfolio, send it to model agencies. Offer photographers free makeup service for clients/ models and eventually they will call you back... That's when you charge. good luck.. 👌😎

I agree with Jess A. Build a portfolio and market yourself well. One other thing I would add is keep learning and keeping up with current techniques. Airbrushing is a big factor for brides, as its becoming quite common. Good luck to you sweetie!

I have a website, Facebook fan page and Instagram. I post pictures all the time. Always have business cards with you. Join some makeup groups. I'm also in the building stage and I'm starting to see more clients. Good luck.
