I've never tried Mac but it keeps popping up everywhere I go on here. It's been driving me mad! Please tell me your favorite lipsticks and whatnot. I've been trying to find a new look as of late.

Honestly, I think that a lot about Mac is overrated. Their matte lipsticks are drying, their foundations only work if you have a specific skin type, their eyeshadows are chalky and not particularly pigmented, to me. The one thing I've tried that I actually like is the Pro Longwear concealer. It's great for under your eyes, goes on smoothly and doesn't crease.

MAC was my first higher end makeup brand and I love it. I love their blushes, msf highlighters, and I love the studio fix fluid and powder which I've been using for about 4 years and the studio sculpt foundation which is also very good. My personal experience with MAC has been good.

Yes I love their lipsticks! Half n Half is my everyday nude. Up The Amp, Cherish and Diva are on my wishlist atm.

I love their lip liners, but feel their lipstick is incredibly overrated..largely because the colors are just so gorgeous. People are very forgiving of a lipstick if they look fab in a color..lol. I like Kat Von D, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stick..all of their sticks actually as now they have supa shiny ones. Tarte also makes great lip color.

Pretty sure MAC is no longer cruelty free, too. :/

Lol the title made me laugh. I don't think MAC is all that great, to be honest. I've only liked their mineralize skinfinishes, blushes, and lustre finish lipstick. I think that MAC rides on the hype, if that makes sense. Not the best quality as of late, especially their holiday collections.

To be honest I see no problem with there eyeshadows they carry a lot of colors depending what you get what eyeshadow primer you use is how your product will show, also brushes have much to do with it what brush your using ;\ the foundation I definitely don't like, to yellow or it breaks me out the lipsticks are average.I went to sephora and one of the young ladies helped me with a long lasting lipstick she recommended ysl pur couture lippies, they definitely to hold during out the day I only half to apply once and a dab for retouching.

I love the majority of their products. I love the foundation, concealer, lipsticks, eyeliner and eyeshadows. I have oily skin and quite yellow toned with larger pores and the studio fix fluid, pro long wear and full coverage foundations work great for me. I've tried drugstore brands aside from Iman and they just didn't have the right shade or formula for me. They would "match" but it was cause they were so sheer. Then the fuller coverage ones would be too pink, brown or orange. They had some yellow toned ones but too light for my color or not enough yellow tones. As for the lipsticks I love the amplified and satin finishes since they're quite opaque and the colors are amazing! Especially in pictures which I think is what they're aimed for, they don't wash out in pictures as much as other lipsticks I've tried. Their Chromaline eyeliner is amazing and has really awesome colors like a nice purple and a blue I use a bit too which I can take a pic of.

OMG I loveee those lipsticks Aurora. Definitely have my eye on that purple 😘

To answer the question:
I have a theory about MAC. I see it as the McDonalds of high end products. They are marketed in such a way that they are viewed as heavenly yet tangible to the everyday girl. Few high end stores have their own store in a mall (the people's place.) This makes it more accessible/noticeable to the general public rather than going to a makeup counter in a high end department store (like Nordstrom's, where people may shy away from because of the prices.) Also, the prices are high but not too overpriced for a teenage girl's allowance or paycheck. She may not have $35 to spend on a ysl lipstick but I bet she has $15.

See... To me, MAC marketers have made it a tangible thing. Like a heaven on earth (Lol I'm so dramatic but you get it)

As for quality. I own the prolongwear concealer and powder blush. Both left me a happy customer, which is why I plan to repurchase lipsticks, paint point, etc.

Their brushes are amazing and if your buying Mac I suggest a pallet.

Lipsticks and brushes are great. And I actually looove the Studio Fix Foundation.

Oh and for some the studio fix fluid would oxidize and it did for me but to solve that I just make a mixture of water and a little bit of lemon juice and spray it over the foundation. Lemon juice is sprayed on fruits to prevent oxidizing and it's definitely helped me with any foundation that oxidizes

The only thing I've ever been curious enough about to try is a lipstick. And I do like it but I was definitely not so impressed that I'd run out and buy more. Overall I'm very underwhelmed by MAC. And since I've struggled with acne for almost 10 years I would never ever even consider trying one of their face products. I watch videos where people review the latest collections from them and they just don't get me excited. Especially recently with the Rihanna collection. It's literally all just been shades of red lipstick lol. They don't really ever seem to do anything new or exciting. Just not my thing I guess. I'm sure they do have some good products but I feel like I've already sort of discovered my favorite brands and would rather drop money on them than simply just TRYING to see if another brand has anything that's truly worth it, if that makes any sense at all lol.

Ahh that sounds really confusing lol. What I mean is I'd rather try other brands because I hear good things, not just buy a bunch of MAC stuff and try to make it work and see if they have any redeeming products. I already have a holy grail eyeshadow, and many other things I'm satisfied with so I can't see myself ever needing anything from them really. I feel like there's plenty of brands out there that make everything they make but better quality. If I have to pay more for quality that's fine with me.
