I use a curling wand. It depends on what kind of curls I want on how I do it. I always point it down when I use it but if I want big loose curls I take bigger sections. If I have the time I start with the bottom layer and go back to front in pretty small sections. For big loose ones I'll still go back to front, but I'll take much bigger sections, about 3 or 4 on each half of my head.

Oh and I usually use my highest setting 410.

How big are your wands? And tapered or just straight down?

I do wet sets and hot rollers. I may flatiron my hair twice a month. My favorite are hot rollers because I can roll crazy quick..apply make up..get dressed, etc.while my hair is curling. I always use a heat protectant and Living Proof style extender these days. I do rows but they don't need to perfect..it's quite forgiving. I use pins or clamps and when they are setting..I spritz them lightly with Got2B so soft. It's important to not yank rollers out..unfurl the curl slowly. I spray them all lightly with Redken 28..use my fingers, a pick or wet brush to style. Lasts for days. My hot rollers are flocked. For wet sets, I lightly towel dry, apply Living Proof Perfect Hair Day...comb through..then apply a setting solution. Roll with Foam...add headscarf and sleep overnight. I use very large rollers for wet sets. They last a week..dry shampoo ftw. For flat iron, I use Chi..blow dry until completely dry...then section and spray with Redken 28. I never exceed 300...use a 100 on my bangs.Let curls cool and brush gently or pick and respray. Lasts me days. I backcomb a bit up top for volume. Again, I only do this about twice a month..if that. It's rough on the hair. For strays, I use a hint of Apricot Oil on my fingertips. Keeps frizz away and leaves a great shine. Here is my wetset lotion.

I use a curling iron, but I don't use the clamp. I basically use it like a curling wand. I have an actual curling wand but the iron works a lot better.
I wear extensions so I curl my hair in "layers."
I put the first weft in near the nape of my neck and curl it. The direction I curl depends on the style I want. Usually I go for "Kardashian" waves, so I curl all my hair AWAY from the face.
After I curl a section, I immediately put it in a plastic roller. This is going help the hair stay curled longer. I use huge rollers on the underneath and back of my hair and smaller ones around my face.
I repeat over and over until my whole head is full of rollers. At this time I will go do my makeup or get dressed or whatever. Then I take all the rollers out. Sometimes the curls look a little too structured but resist the urge to brush through them- that's just going to ruin all your hard work.
I flip my head over and shake it around to help "loosen" the curls. I have my hair done in the style right now and the curls have barely fallen at all since 5:30am. (It's 1pm now where I am)
