You have to play with proportions! Something right or that looks tight and something boxier or flowly and loose! :)

Agreed with a sweater and leggings, but you could also pair an oversized sweater with a tighter skirt, such as a pencil skirt/body con skirt and tuck a small piece of the sweater into the waist band of your skirt, letting the rest of the skirt flow around you. This defines your figure, while still keeping you sweater loose and oversized. (:
