I know a great haircut can work wonders for volume but do you beautylish members have any tips or tricks for getting a voluminous hairstyle? I hardly use any product in my hair and sometimes when i try i seem to get a headache or it just gets weighed down and oily pretty quickly. Any advice is appreciated..

To get volume for going out I start in the shower. I wash my hair thouroughly with a clarifying shampoo to get all of the products out. Next I use a light conditioner- but only halfway down to the tips- none on the top of my head or three inches or so below. When I get out I squeeze my hair dry with a towel, comb through it, and then flip it upside down.
Once upside down I get a handful of hair mousse (I like Big Sexy Hair) and massage it into my roots. Then, still upside down, I blowdry my hair from above, toussling the roots and occasionally combing out tangles. Once you flip your hair back over you should have major volume. If you want even more at this point you could put some hot rollers in or... when all else fails, get a comb and start teasing those roots!

I have found out that making a baking soda paste and putting in the hair for about 3 or so minutes the wash as usual. It takes all the build up out then spray on vinegar for shine... it's cheap and it works. And I have a lot of hair and it's uber long.

You should cut down on how much styling you do to your hair. The reason your hair is falling out is because your literally killing it. Now, I don't mean you can't do anything to your damaged hair. When you do use heat or blow dry, use a heat protectant before styling. When blow drying, try using the lowest setting or the cool button. I don't feel like it is necessary to blow dry every time you shower. If you're staying home, let it naturally air dry. What kind of shampoo and conditioner do you use? I use Moroccan Aragon Oil 360 Moisture from Avon. It has made a HUGE difference in my hair, and I rarely use heat. I also use One n' Only Aragon Oil Leave-In Conditioner. You can get this at Sally Hanson. It's one of their cheapest, I believe, yet it is so amazing! I just ran out and I can feel the difference without it. I find that if you wring out your hair before conditioning, it helps dramatically! Leave every product you use in the shower in you hair for about ten minutes to get the best results. To have your hair look healthier and shine, try rinsing with, as cold as you can handle, cold water. This stops frizz and makes your hair silkily shine! I go back to you saying that your hair falls out. Mine used to a lot and I had to empty my brush nearly every day. Would you run a brush through a piece of silk? No, that would be ridiculous, right? Visually, as your hair is wet, it relates to silk. Let it dry, or I find it better to just allow it to become damp. That where the One n' Only Leave-In Conditioner locks in the moisture. If you have to brush it or you're in a hurry, use a wide tooth comb! A brush damages your hair when it is wet. If your hair is just so damaged and you need some more help, there are pills out there. I would recommend a Hair, Skin, and Nails Vitamin. The most important solution for every problem in the world is water! I was never one to just be satisfied with water, and I'll admit, I'm still not. But, with multiple health problems, it has helped me well. The average person is supposed to drink eight glasses of water a day! That's insane to me. I recommend, and going to do, is get a refillable bottle. I'm going to make lines and put a time on each line of when that much needs to be drunken. I hope this helps!
