I have medium length hair but I really want to have really long hair and I swore to my self that this whole summer I was not going to dye it or straighten it and I haven't until yesterday and my hair has not grown at all. Does anyone know how I can grow my hair faster or at all

take a multi-vitmain...drink lots of water.
i'm sure your hair has grown a little bit, you just don't realize!

Hair growth is about 0.5 in/month (1.27cm), which really isnt such an obvious growth and of course for some people its slower for others faster. If you used to straighten and dye your hair a lot and it became dry its possible that dry ends just break off. Its really important that your hair especailly the ends are in a good condition so that they dont split or break off so that you dont need to get them trimmed as often. Natural hair masks of natural oils may prove helpful in keeping your hair healthy. Massaging the scalp is also something you can do it stimulated hair growth (but dont expect miracles ;) ). Products that you should include in your diest that keep hair healthy (and that help with its growth)
Fish- especially Salmon because its rich in omega 3 fatty acids
Green Vegetables- such as spinach and broccoli
Nuts
Beans
Poultry
Eggs (but not too many)
And of course as Megan mentioned above its good to always stay hydrated, best by drinking water and also green tea!
Hope this helps :)))

I used to work at GNC and we sold Biotin, which is a supplement! Buy the highest one you can find and take one everyday. Or you can ask one of the representatives on which products is for hair, skin and nails, and just make sure you look for the one with the greatest amount of biotin in it. (:
It really worked for me.

A healthy diet, water, and scalp massages is my secret. (Look at my profile pic if you don't believe me) I haven't gone as far as taking biotin, but I have had friends who have, and I must warn you to be careful. My friend had a reaction to biotin, and it gave her cystic pimples.

More tops:
Get regular trims! I know you're growing your hair out, but keeping the ends healthy will allow your hair to grow longer without breaking. I get a trim every 6 weeks. Tell your stylist you're trying to grow your hair out, and tell her to "dust" the ends, he/or she should understand and only talk off about half an inch.

Leave in conditioners! There are 3 leave in conditioners that I like:
1-Pantene Beautiful Lengths Smoothing Balm! I like to massage this from the middle to the ends of my hair. With this product I've noticed less hair breakage, and very healthy ends. But I must warn you, if you have oily hair, this product can cause build up after a day. It's best for normal-fine hair.
2-Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship. This is better if you have an oily scalp because you can apply it right from the roots to the ends. It smells divine, goes on sale often for $5 and change at Target all the time. It also doubles as a heat protectant if you want to blow our your hair.
3-Argan Oil- Argan oil is an oil, so I tend to avoid putting this near my roots, but it's fabulous to hydrate the ends. The key to beautiful long hair is hydration. Dry hair breaks off! (I like to apply it to wet hair)

I hope I helped :) Come find me on my page if you have any other questions.

As well as giving your hair a brake and doing what you know is good for your hair try sleeping in a a bun or pony tail. It stimulate your hair to grow. And if you dont like the ugly dent in your hair when you wake up do a tight french braid while you hair is wet and you'll have pretty wave when you wake up.

It really works. I had a short angle bob and in just a little less than a year my hair is almost down the middle of my back. And for a while i could even get it in a pony tail and now I can do a bun. Oh and if want to trim it don't do more than every other month or you will just cut the growth you just had but if you can help it don't cut it.

hope it helps ♥

Will be posting a hair care video in exactly one week! Subscribe and stayed tuned! I promise it will be good and super helpful!

more how tos, beauty, and styling vids to come!!

@Brittney & Krysten - pulling your hair back into ponytails & buns especially when it's wet (hair is at its most fragile when it's wet) isn't a good idea - it causes breakage.

The other girls are right though - biotin is essential. Let it hang loose, avoid heat tools and let it be. It took about 3 years for me to grow out a Victoria Beckham haircut...well worth the wait, because now it's long and my curl has come back! Yay!

Kimberly; I didn't say to pull it up when its wet... I don't believe it causes breakage at all..pulling your hair up stimulates your hair follicles...theres no breakage involved actually(: But it also depends on the type of hair you have I suppose...
But you are correct about heating tools, they do more damage than anything!! lol.

In all my years in the business, I've never heard that - I've only heard the contrary, that it tightens the scalp. By molecules, do you mean follicles??

After back to back hair extensions my hair thinned out from shedding. I've been letting my hair rest by not using heat, washing once every other day, and using a wide tooth comb to brush it. I also did a strength treatment. I decide to cut my hair a good 7 inches since my long hair had to many tangles and split ends and I did not want to loose anymore hair. My new routine is using Nioxion's 3 step treatment which is good for hair growth and I also take a multivitamin with added biotin. I'm determined to have my long hair back in 2 years for my wedding. :)

Ahh so true ^^ Andrew B! I used extensions when I was growing my hair out, so I didn't have to wait! haha But I am also impatient! :D!

BIOTIN! BIOTIN!
and don't wash every day!!

I agree with Kimberly, putting your hair up is always worse because you have to use rubber bands and the point where the rubber band is used will be prone to breakage. It really is best to leave hair loose. And when going to sleep braiding it and using one of those thick soft scrunchy things (I know they are ugly and so out, but who cares in the dark). Also silk pillow cases are rather good because there is less friction on the hair.

I didn't say put in a wet pony tail and as for the wet french braid I should have clarified It could be slightly damp so that its completely dry when you wake up. And the idea for the scrunchy is a great idea you can even use some material that is cut in a strip (I use a bunch of those for heat-less curls) And the reason for the tight french braid but not so tight that its pulling out your hair, is because it loosens while you are sleeping but you don't have to do that you can keep it loose you"ll just have looser waves.

I've been growing my hair for more than 3 years now, and even though it's only just above my chest in the front and in between my shoulder blades at the back, it's grown a whole lot!

It's sad to say, but my best advice is to wait. There is no magic trick to make your hair grow longer faster, although some swear by massaging their scalp regularly, and warm weather tends to promote hair growth.

It's also important to take greaaaaat care of your hair. Do not use heat (or just not too often), and give it a weekly treatment/mask. The more moisturized and healthy (so diet and lifestyle are critical too!) your hair is, the less you have to go to the hairdresser to trim the ends.

Whiiiich brings me to my next point -- you HAVE to trim your hair at least every 6 to 8 weeks -- I find that you can stretch it to 3 months if you're suuuuper careful. It's tempting not to get it trimmed if you really want to grow your hair, but if you've go splits, be honest with yourself. It's better go get rid of them while they're still tiny, or else your hair will be frizzy and unhealthy and you'll have to chop it all off!

Hoped that help, good luck with growing your hair!

Water, Hair, Skin& Nails vitamin ( you can get this at Wal-Mart) and get it trimmed every six weeks. IT promotes growth! XO Jess

Well it took me 2 years to grow my hair out from shoulder length to my belly button. I took some vitamins (foreign polish ones), I have also started deep conditioning and using leave-in conditioner for my hair. :)

Hey !

I agree time is so important when you are trying to grow your hair! But in the meanwhile you could try some things to help in the process. Like Healthy diet, supplements and home care.

You can actually take Prenatal vitamins and it helps you hair and nails grow faster than usual.
Or you can get extensions, they're amazing and totally worth it, they can make anyones hair look incredible

Take hair, nail and skin vitamins. Another thing you could do is use all natural shampoo, conditioners and treatments. If you're using those sorts of products bought from supermarkets it is going to layer your hair in silicone which is not good for it. Get yourself into a LUSH store if you live near one and buy some of their products. They are fantastic for your hair.
Remember to get regular trims to. The more you trim your hair the more it grows, ironically. Trimming in helps it gain more health therefore triggers growth.

I have been growing my hair for 5 years after being peer pressured into cutting it off to my shoulders in my first year of high school. It's now down past my lower back! XO
