Kim Kardashians makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, is hosting a makeup workshop in NYC and charging $450.00 a ticket. So the question is . . .Do you guys feel that its worth it?

I was waiting FOREVER for him to do one in NY . . . but I feel like its too pricey, I could've sworn they charged much less out in LA

They did charge cheaper... I think it was $350? I still find that a steal for a workshop. Ive been to other workshops and seminars in my field, and tickets to those can range in the $800-2k a ticket!!! (that is for a well known key note speaker like Al Gore or something speaking on behalf of global warming, or an instructor giving you a crash course in graphic techniques in a day to a week) Although the beauty industry is expensive as is, I still find that a reasonable price to sit and learn from an industry professional with such an impressive background of clientele.

Thanks for your feedback :) I didn't realize it could get that expensive. I really LOVE all of the looks he creates. He's very talented and Im sure I would learn a lot, but its something I'll have to think about.

I believe he sends most people home with goodie bags of products he loves too, so you do get a bit of a return on your investment. I remember the first seminar I ever paid to attend (non-makeup related) and as much as it hurt my pocket, I wouldn't trade it for a thing! The reason I think it's a good value is because you get to ask questions, and I've been to ones where it's primarily a presentation and questions are limited because you have to compete with a large crowd to be noticed. From what I've seen, Mario's workshops aren't too big, which gives you more face time with him, and you're not watching him on a screen in the nosebleed section of an auditorium. =P
I wouldn't rely on it as the sole means of learning to be a MUA, but I would consider it a refresher course or a primer to getting more in depth later.

I've worked in the makeup industry for a few years, so I was looking to go into it to learn more about how he contours and the techniques he uses. I feel like it could be a very valuable forum to do that but I don't know if he's really going to share/go that into depth

Yeah, I wish there was a more thorough breakdown of the topics that will be covered in bullet points. From the video he posted, it looks like a few demos on models, and Q&A for participants... So I think it might be loosely done so each individual can take what they want from the experience with Q&A?
