i have always had a problem with split ends and i really am getting tired of them. my hair is fine until it gets past my shoulders, then the ends start to get brittle. i straighten my hair twice a week on low heat. i do not blow dry it, i blot my hair with a towel after a shower. i use Pantene Pro-V's Breakage to Strength shampoo conditioner & leave-in treatment, along with Argan Oil and sometimes Garnier Fructis leave-in conditioner. I try to keep up with the 6 week trim, but i really want to grow my hair out to at least my waist. is there anything else i can do?

Honestly, apart from trimming your hair regularly and being as kind to it as you can? Not much.
That said, supposedly pre-natal Vitamin E can stimulate hair growth, but it's still something I want to research a bit.

I use redken anti snap leave in conditioner and it's a really good product for dry ends and breakage. It's on the expensive side but it's really worth the money.
I also use John frieda root awakening shampoo and conditioner which is like a strengthening product. I got them at target and they are fairly inexpensive.
Other than those two products I don't have much advice. I have the same problem with my hair :/

Olive Oil is amazing for split ends! Heat it in the microwave for 10 seconds and apply to the ends of your hair (and the scalp too if you suffer from dandruff) then wash hair as normal :)

Are you using a protectant when you use your flatiron? They can come in a serum form or a spray. That will keep you from getting the constant split ends. You can also use it when you need to blowdry your hair as well. Heat dries out your hair and if you aren't protecting it before applying a heated appliance then the split ends will rule.

Hey Danielle! I had the same problem the first time I grew my hair out as I straightened a LOT, and also the winter dryness certainly doesn't help. lol.
I use Rusk Keratin Care shampoo and Conditioner, and it makes your hair UNBELIEVABLY soft, and it also adds shine while containing fly-aways. I wash my hair only every other day, and condition every day. Once a week I do a deep conditoner that I make which is essentially 1/2 TBSP of Castor Oil, 1/2 TBSP of Grapeseed Oil, 1/2 TBSP of Coconut Oil mixed with a packet of Henna and Placenta deep conditioner. I apply as much as I need to my hair and let it set overnight or at least two hours.
Also, for flat-ironing, try using some grapeseed oil as a heat protectant on your hair. It has a really high smoke point, so it won't burn off of your hair like other serums and leave your ends un-protected. Also, making sure your getting enough protein in your diet and healthy fats which will help keep your hair strong and healthy. = )

I know my local Ulta carries their whole line, I purchase mine from Wholesale Beauty Club. I think the shampoo in the regular bottles is like $10-12. At least try the conditioner, its amaazing!

It's kind of an expensive alternative but you could have the split ends trimmed and get extensions? I have split ends too and I know I just need to go have them cut off... It's just so hard to part with my legnth! Lately I've been using a styling paste on my ends to cover up how damaged they really are. It's been working OK but soon I'm just going to bite the bullet and go to a hairdresser.

the split end treatment from avon worked wonders on my hair danielle!! i straightened my hair every day and died it once every 3 weeks for a whole 2 years.. Leaving it dry, split and brittle... my hairdresser told me id have to get it all cut off into a pixie cut if i wanted it to get better.. I couldnt let her do it i cudnt part with my long hair.. i was flickin thru the avon and saw it was on special offer for like 4 euro or somethin (6 or 7 dollars) and bought it just to giv it a try not expecting much from it ... IT COMPLETELY CHANGED MY WHOLE HEAD OF HAIR!! after one use all my split ends were mended and my hair was looking and feelin better then ever.. I continued using it until last week when i ran out (i had it for almost 2 years) and my hair is still in perfect condition.. shiny, bouncy and NO split ends!!! worth a try for such little money and if it worked for me it could work for you!!
