I'm going to be buying some new brushes... I want to add some MAC to my collection, but they are pricey (hello)... and I have heard soooo many MIXED reviews on Sigma. (Even referred to as "Shitma" etc lol). I heard they fall apart, are poor quality, etc etc... but then I see so many people using them and loving them. But I also see the same with MAC... Which would you guys say is better in your opinion for the price and the quality of brushes? Thanks! =)

I have the Sigma 12 piece kit that I got for Christmas and I really like them! They're very sturdy and easy to use. Plus they are really nice, they look professional. I have seen the MAC brushes but I have not used them. They look to be of good quality too, but Sigma is actually really good. Their 12 piece is only i think 95 $ and if you google sigma coupon you can find an extra 10% off. they can be washed and used on other people, but it depends on what you want to use them for!
the only thing i dont like about them is the fact they shed a little more than I'm used to. But not a terrible amount... its easy to live with :)
Plus you get a free gift if your order is over 30$!

I own Sigma and MAC and have been using MAC for over 6 years. I love MAC, but know that Sigma is an awesome alternative. There are mixed reviews - but most of them were done prior to Sigma changing over to their new naming system as well. I don't even use my MAC 187 anymore, I am in love with my Sigma F80 and have 3 of them, one for me and two for clients. It really does depend on what you are using them for. Ultimately, Sigma also has a reasonably high price point compared to other companies out there - but, I will take quality over quantity any day... and have used pretty much every sigma brush that is out there.

I agree with Nicole H.! (I'm starting to think we have the same standards for brushes...) =P
I love Sigmas synthetic face kit... The f80 blows the MAC187 out of the water any day. I do love MAC for their eye brushes, but aside from the 109, 138 and 165, I'm not a fan of their face brushes.

@Nichole:
<<Sigma's natural hair face brushes shed.>>
My F05 has shed and does, definitely, but my F40 never has. Heh.

You can definitely get more bang for your buck in terms of the number of brushes from Sigma. I just bought a couple of brushes from them last week and they're nice. I like them, but I can't really tell you how they compare to my MAC brushes since I haven't used them long enough. Personally, I'm in love with the Real Techniques brushes right now. Great quality and way cheaper than both MAC and Sigma.

I haven't tried MAC's brushes so I can't give a true comparison, but I do have the Sigma F80 and love it! I'm also a huge fan of Bdellium Brushes (I have a review on this site) and I just started using Real Techniques. R.T. are phenominal! I was very surprised at the quality of these brushes. While I know that MAC overall makes a great product, I have absolutely no desire to shell out the major money for their brushes when I have so many fantastic alternatives that work perfectly for me.
