Hi Everyone!

I currently use MUFE Duo Mat Powder Foundation. I am in the process of looking for a more affordable foundation, preferably at a drugstore. Do you all have any suggestions of powder foundation OR cream to powder foundations for women of color?

Iman has been suggested to me and I plan to try it soon. I tried one of their products and it was awful in combination with my oily skin.

In the past, I have used the L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Powder. It worked very well. They have a pretty wide range of colors and the coverage is buildable. The only reason I stopped using the L'Oreal is because the store where I bought it at the time kept running out of my particular shade. Other than that, I don't have any real complaints about it.

I use loreal true match liquid foundation and it is flawless...

I have used many brands of foundations and I have found that drugstore foundations are a better color match for my skin tone. The three foundations that I like from the drugstore are l'oreal true match, revlon colorstay, and the covergirl clean oil free formula.

I've been a die-hard fan of Bobbi Brown's liquid foundations for a few years now. If you have yellow-undertones in your skin like I do you will find your match. I also like her mineral foundation but it only offers a light/medium coverage. As far as drugstore...Revlon is good is well but its so hard to find my shade around town so I gave up. Revlon has a huge shade selection and various formulas to select from.

@Beatrice K. I actually learned about undertones from Prescriptives. They told me that I had a yellow undertone and then with that info matched me up with colors that compliment it (everything from foundation, lipstick, blush and eyeshadows). Sadly, they are no longer around because they truly were the best in the biz. I don't know the exact science behind it and I don't want to guess because I don't want to give you the wrong info. I do know that once I found out what my tone was I can now go to Sephora and see what shades will work for me and what will be a no-no. If I see a foundation with a tinge of red in it then I know the finished look is going to come out looking orange on my face. If you know of a really good artist at MAC who is well versed in undertones (just ask) that is a good place to start. Or even a Bobbi Brown counter.

A general rule to determine undertones: If your veins on your inner wrist appear to be green, you have warm or yellow undertones. If your veins appear to be blue, you have blue or cool undertones. Here is a link from EHow that offers more in-depth information. http://www.ehow.com/how_2126120_determine-skin-tone.html

@beatrice Undertone is the color beneth your skintone. There are 3 undertones (Yellow, Red and Olive/green). 70% of people have a yellow undertone, 20+% has a red undertone and less than 7% has an olive. Most makeup companies only produce makeup in a yellow or red undertone (so hope that you don't fall with the less than 10%). You can tell the undertone of a foundation by swiping it on a white paper...the color that bleeds through is the undertone of the foundation. The easiest way I can tell you to figure out what you are is to go into MAC and have a person color match you. If they fit you in a C or NC shade then you're yellow, if they match you with a W or NW then you're red. Please, do not let them sell you eyeshadows and blushs that they claim suites your undertone (this is rubbish! wear what suites your style and personality). If you find that no foundation ever really matches perfectly then welcome to my world...you're olive! It's not the end of the world you'll just have to become a master foundation mixer and matcher.
