Sounds like your skin needs a break from the liquid foundation experimentation. Have you thought of trying a tinted moisturizer? I have combination skin and I rotate between liquid and mineral foundations....and most recently I added in a BB cream into to the mix. All them offer different levels of coverage but I think my skin appreciates it because thanks me by not breaking out. I use Bobbi Brown for liquid and mineral foundation and the BB cream I use is by Smashbox.

I use MUFE HD foundation (like the rest of the world...), I love it and it hasn't broken me out yet! MAC Studio Fix Fluid broke me out REALLY bad, the worst I've ever experienced, and I find that some primers do it too. Previous to the MUFE HD, I used Clinique acne solutions liquid makeup, and the even better foundation - loved both, used them for years and never had a break out!

I switched to mineral foundation (Meow Cosmetics is drugstore prices, but you have to get it online). I used to use liquid foundation and then powder foundation, and it really gunked me up. I never realized it until I made the switch. You'll miss out on some coverage, but once your skin clears up you won't need it!

If it is a drugstore foundation you're looking for, and you don't have super oily skin, I would definitely give the Neutrogena Healthy Skin. Since I've started using it, I've actually noticed a slight improvement in my skin, but I have combo/dry skin. It definitely has a natural, dewy finish, from my experience it is not cakey, and one layer will give probably give you medium coverage, but two for full. I always get compliments from my friends when I wear this during the day, when your flaws are more visible. The reason I do say to avoid this if you have super oily skin is because it does have that dewy finish, so it is likely that this might slip and slide around during the day, which happened with my sister. I love this foundation though, I don't feel like it exacerbates any flakey patches, and I think it really makes my skin look way better considering the price tag. I definitely like this 100x better than the mac foundations I've tried, and maybe as much as the MUFE HD.
A tip with this foundation, if you really like that dewy finish, and want extra coverage, I've enjoyed using a bareminerals foundation on top to set it.
Clearly this is all based off of my experience with the foundation, and of course trying any makeup product is a risk, but no one I know personally has had anything bad happen from this, except for my sister with the oily skin, and she just had trouble with longevity of this foundation.
