I bought Moroccan oil products almost a year ago and I switch using them on and off but I heard a while ago they're bad for your hair, contain silicones, and other things? Does anyone know if this is true? I had thought they were good and liked them but I'm trying to grow my hair out & would like it to be as healthy as possible. Thanks.

this depends on which product you're using and how you're using it, the moisture repair shampoo and conditioner set say "They restore hair by bathing it in a highly concentrated formula rich in antioxidant argan oil, reconstructive keratin and fatty acids. Both products restore elasticity, moisture and manageability. The formulas are free of sulfates, phosphates and parabens, so they’re safer for the environment and won’t dry, fade or strip color-treated hair. They’re even free of sodium chloride, making them safe to use after keratin treatments." So I'm guessing it's pretty good for your hair, but i dont know which product you're using, plus they don't show the ingrediants either

also, if you're growing out your hair, i would try a DIY hair mask once every week for hydration to encourage the growth of your hair(:

I have the shampoo, conditioner you mentioned, the oil, the hydrating styling cream, the intense hydrating mask, & the curl defining cream. I didn't buy them all at once this has been over the past year or so. I try to do a mask and/or a protein treatment every few washes or at least once a week. I have the Redken extreme CAT treatment, the healthy sexy hair soy tri-wheat treatment, K-PAK intense hydrator & the moroccan oil one. lol I like to mix it up

The actual Moroccanoil brand, or was it another brand with moroccan/argan oil in it?
And yeah, companies ought to start listing their ingredients online. It's 2012, ffs!

Moroccan Oil good. love it, use it, recommend it to everyone. If you are blond, try Moroccan oil light.

@Shelly T. Yes actual moroccan oil brand,
@Kayla B. When I bought my oil they didn't have the light formula but does it make that noticeable of a difference in any aspect? And glad to hear its good and I'm not the only one that loves it.

I don't waste my money on the actual brand. Moroccan oil and argan oil are one and the same, so I just use argan oil stuff... >.<

Hi Carly, The light formula is mostly the same as the original. The only reason I recommend the Light formula for blonds is that some people have said the original changes the color of their blond hair. The light formula is a lighter color so you wont see a color change in your blond over time!

i use orofluido which i just like morrocan oil. I had really damaged hair from bleaching and i swear this as saved the remaining hair i have left from it all falling off, so if morrocan oil is bad you can always switch to orofluido x

Silicone isn't bad for your hair, it can just weigh down hair after a while because it can build up. You can occasionally use a clarifying shampoo or alternate shampoos to get rid of the buildup.

Moroccan Oil is fantastic for your hair, I've seen it work some wonders. I've been using it for 2 years & have had no negative effects. I have thick, soft, shiny hair, & it just makes it softer & shinier :) I recommend it to a lot of my clients.

I previously used the morrocon oil brand hair oil and despite temporarily fixing the problem I found that in the long run it was making my hair very brittle and dry. I would recomend using pure 100% argan oil as it doesn't contain any other nasty ingredients or chemicals. It will be more expensive but is definitly worth it. Coconut oil is great and I also use caffiene shampoo (a shampoo for men) to help stimulate the roots of my hair
