So this will be my first year going to the la one! How much money should I bring? What should I expect? what brands are there!? any details please!

you should be able to see all the brands that will be there on the website.
words of advice, get there early!! there will be LINES for all the best brands so I would try to be one of the first people in if your trying to get to the more popular brands. They also sell out of things. I would try to map out where you want to go first. Are you going both days or just one? if you're going both I would do one day for shopping and one for the seminars because they are awesome! Some of the discounts are pretty good (up to 40%) but it's easy to drop a lot of money so come prepared!

I'd recommend heading to the website to check out the vendors and make a list. Sketching out some kind of budget will make things a lot easier and give you a bit of direction while you're there and help you prioritize what you really want.
Despite the discounts it's quite easy to be overwhelmed with the sheer number of products there, especially ones you may only have access to online. So you can easily end up spending way more than you anticipated, especially when it comes to tools like brushes, train cases, lights etc.
I chatted a bit more about this here:

Have fun!

Hi Jaclyn!!
Which IMATS are you attending? I've been going to IMATS LA for about 6 years now and it's always so much fun. A game plan is recommended. I usually make a list of the products I want, look at the speakers list (to see if there is someone I want to hear), and plan my day accordingly. In the past few years it has been crowded, but fun none the less.
I've tried setting a budget, but I ALWAYS go over. I'm not sure what your budget is, but I think last year I spent around $400 to $500. I know that's a lot, but I got A LOT of product. I think if you go to my profile page I have a picture of the products I got (I didn't take a picture of everything though). This year I'm going to start saving early so that it doesn't hit me as hard. If you go to the LA show, I hope to see you there. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions let me know. :)

I will be going to the one in NY...and you should have a game plan..it will be crowded but for the most part it was so much fun. You will need to save $500 or more. Honestly and you get what you need. I think it is so worth it.
