Hi loves!
I've never been one to use primer, but I'm starting to think it may help with the longevity of my eyeshadow! Any recommendations? xoxo

It really does help. Before I used them my shadows were never as bold or lasted very long. My faves are Laura Mercier Eye basics, Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Stila Prime Pot, Benefit Stay Don't Stray. I have a used a few others but these are my standout ones!=D

Urban Decay Primer Potion is really good if you want something that's more transparent. It really helps eyeshadows pop. As for a colored base if you want to cover up discoloration, I like MAC Paint Pots.

I use Elf primer its a $1 [US] and it WORKS! ... also a good alternative for primer is our concealer ...apply it to your lid , set it with a translucent powder and it really gives your shadows that POP & the translucent powder makes blending your shadows a breeze

Urban Decay's primer potion changed my life - SERIOUSLY. As a novice, I really thought I sucked - I couldn't make cheap crappy shadows like the CS88 palettes work, and my MAC shadows worked, but I didn't get the "wow" factor I was looking for with dramatic smokey looks... Enter UDPP and omg... everything is vibrant - and if I happen to pass out piss drunk from the night prior, I still wake up looking like I'm ready to go! It's weird... [and gross] but it's fantastic!
I am curious to try Limecrime's version, but have yet to find the excuse. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! =P

A new found favorite of mine would be the Laura Mercier eyeshadow base. Works really well! I still like to use my urban decay primer potion and MAC paint pots : ) They too work really well.

My favorite is the too faced shadow insurance. I like UD primer potion too, but I think the too faced one works a little better.

i pretty much agree with wat the ladies are saying here i love love love my mac paint pots mostly because they come in a range of colors so if your looking for a color base def check those out and the urban decay primer potion is amazing especially since they have changed the packaging to make it easier to get all the product out...and i recently started using the laura mercier eye basics and its amazing as well...those would have to be my three favorites by far

I have very oily lids, so there is only one eye primer that works for me, and that's Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I have tried UDPP, MAC Paint Pots, NYX's eye primer, and others, and they all crease.
Product aside, primers really do make a difference. They create a smoother surface, sometimes a sticky surface, to help your shadows adhere better. They prevent creasing and fading, and often they'll enhance the appearance of a certain color/finish.

I use Urban Decay Primer Potion and then a little of whatever setting powder I am using that day on top. I find it helps my eyeshadow last a lot longer if I do this extra step.

i also have oily lids, and i would rank these as my top 3 :)
1. Nars smudgeproof eyeshadow base
2. Too faced shadow insurance

My favorite is the Bare Minerals "Prime Time" eyelid primer. It really helps the eyeshadow blend flawlessly and keeps it vibrant. I also like NARS Pro-Prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base. It's pretty decent and the other ones that everyone else has listed like Too-Faced and Urban Decay are great as well.

I just started using Hard Candy eyeshadow primer... it's very reasonably priced and does and effective job for me... I also use NYX jumbo pencil in Milk as a base over the primer... Love vivid bright colors <3
