I think cleanliness is probably going to be a key factor. So keep a brush cleaner available as well as make up remover and some q-tips. Those throw away wands for the mascara are also VERY useful :) I am not a makeup artist but I think those are some things that even the average jane can appreciate :) Good luck!

Hi, Im a makeup artist and I can tell you like Kristina said Cleanliness is really important, no one likes to see unsanitary things especially when it has to do with them. As for working with models, no worries most of them are nice and will let you know if they have a certain look they are going for and what not. If your new to makeup I definitely recommend you checkout alot of gurs on youtube you can learn excellent tips from beginner to advanced. Just learn about makeup application as much as you can, search diffrent kinds of makeup looks just to give you ideas. Put together a basic kit as a starter kit and work from there. Dont be afraid to ask the companies or photographers if they have a certain look in mind, sometimes they will send you pics of what they want. Practice makes perfect!! Youll be fine :) Goodluck babe! If you need anymore help feel free to send me a message :)

You'll also want to bring hand sanitizer with you and don't forget a camera and business cards so you can photograph your work and promote yourself!
