Make Up For Ever: packaging is minimal, hygenic and professional... price is moderate to expensive - but still affordable if you will yourself to save. Quality overall I find 8-10 products work without having to look up reviews and I can shop blindly and still be happy with what I find from foundations, eyeshadows, mascaras, primers, concealers, etc.
Second runner-up for me is Tarte. Their AC blushes, AC cream shadows and Maracuja concealer are top favs... including their lipsurgence pencils [so hydrating!]
Both brands, I can easily walk into Sephora and blindly choose - I'll still be happy with whatever I come out with.
MAC I favor primarily for their permanent eyeshadows, but that's about it.

However I will say the books of shadow are a bit obnoxious in their packaging.. that's why I depotted all mine and put them into Z palettes.

I love Urban Decay their colors have always been fun and you cant really go wrong with the naked palette the prices aren't too bad either. I do have to agree some of their packaging can be a bit on the obnoxious side with the pop up art and what not.

Thanks girls! I am new to this whole makeup world, so I am just looking to try different things. I think that is how you have to take it, one day at a time, and by trying many different products, until you find some that please you specific type of style.
I have some Sephora Brand, NYX, and Too Faced products myself. I personally love the Too Faced Packaging, very girly and creative! NYX, well I love the price and now can find it in Ulta near me, which is great :)

I'm a hardcore Bobbi Brown fan. It started with the foundation two years ago and snowballed from there. Simply because everything is so easy to use within her line. Grant it she doesn't have a bright color selection like UD or NYX but for the most part I've yet tobe disappointed and only had one 'miss' and that was her tinted moisturizer. Her packaging is very streamlined and classic. Of course its a little pricey but so worth it when I see the finished outcome.

I really like Urban Decay, I think their products are great quality and I adore the packaging. However I don't really own many Urban Decay products, I have a ton more MAC products and I really love their products as well, but not as much as I used to. But for an overall favorite brand, it would probably be MAC.

I love Urban Decay as well. I own lots of it. But I also own a lot of MAC too. For my face I love Bare Minerals and Smashbox. Especially Smashbox Halo powder.
