Hi, everyone!
I've been thinking of putting this topic up for discussion for quite a while now since a few beauties and I started talking about it in a few older threads:
I can't survive without music so having some tunes on is absolutely essential. I'll put on Rock, Pop, Classical, etc. It sets the mood for the rest of my day. Truly, there's nothing like a lil' Freddie Mercury to help me work/werq some magic.
So my questions are:
Do you listen to music while you get ready everyday? What's on your playlist?

Drea L.
The Devil Wears Prada, Dance Gavin Dance, Four Year Strong, D.R.U.G.S, Sleeping With Sirens, etc.
A lot of metal, post-hardcore, jazzy post-hardcore, melodic metal, hardcore influenced pop-punk, &. etc.
The Devil Wears Prada is an AMAZING metal band to listen to while getting ready: especially Zombie EP. It gets me sooo pumped!

Really? I'll have to check 'em out. I have to admit, I also kinda started this thread to wheedle out some new music suggestions out of you folks. Heh. *scribblinginnotebook* Yes, I still use a notebook. 'Cos I'm old school like that.

It's definitely not for everybody though! It's a little on the heavy side. >_<
& I also use a nifty little notebook!! Digital notes are lame. XD lol

That's fine. I'm an equal opportunity music-lover. I'll give anything a listen 'cos you never know when you might find something you love. I've found a lot of foreign bands that way. No idea what they're saying but I sure like the way they sound. Heh.
And notebooks rule! There's no romance in digital notes. Feh.

I'm definitely a country music type of girl, but I will also listen to radio pop type of stuff too...like the America's Top 40 music.

I'm for everything... working in a music store ages ago conditioned me to love all music.
I am especially a sucker for good lounge, hip hop, or electronica. Sit me down with Nujabes and I'm a HAPPY CAMPER all live-long day.
Of course, his cult-classic:

And my favorite to drive to in the rain...

RIP Nujabes... such simple, great music... <3

i like to listen to jason mraz. he kind of calms me down and makes me happy, and his voice is so.. soothing? hahaha. i totally agree that music can make you feel different all day!

@Erica What artists do you listen to? Have to admit, the only country artists I have in my library is Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and Keith Urban. I know. Strange combo, right?..... (-.-)'
@Soma I love the Buddha Bar collections for my lounge needs. Is that wrong? Haha. And hey... Nujabes (RIP)! I only know his "Samurai Champloo" stuff though. Gonna have to find his other stuff as well. Anime has introduced me to so many great Japanese bands/artists. I'm a happy geek.
@Abbie Yes! Jason Mraz is great at "happy" music. I think it's the hat. Haha! Owl City is great for happy music, too. And you might wanna check out Paolo Nutini, if you haven't already. I love his "New Shoes".

@Terra Aw, I missed Deadmau5 when he dropped into town. Apparently, it was a pretty happening gig. Bummed I wasn't in town. Bah.
I don't know if we can get Sirius here in Singapore (Pun intended. Hee.) but I like hitting "random" on the 'ol iTunes and see where that takes me. The radio stations aren't bad, either!

Ack! I don't wanna think about all the shows I've missed this year. *runawayrunaway*

I can't live without my music, it depends what makeup I'm doing. If it's quite angelic and innocent (like my butterfly and tinkerbell looks) Owl City it is. But most of the time I've got intense eyeshadow and smokey, thick lined eyes. And my love for pop-punk is what inspires my looks. I love Paramore, Blink-182, Four Year Strong, Sum 41, The Offspring etc.
Sure, I get teased for my taste in music and the way I look, but be proud of who you are! :)

It depends on my mood, but for the most part I'm an Indie/Folk kind of girl, with a little rocker mixed in. My favorite band ever is Evanescence, so I'm obsessed with them and will listen to them all the time, but I also tend to love girly/romantic stuff.
I love Michael Bubble, Ingrid Michaelson, Rosi Golan, Jay Brannan, Kate Voegele, Anna Nalick.
I will listen to a lot of pop/rock though, and lately Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" has had me moving a lot, as well as "Party Rock" by LMFAO.
I guess I like to mix it up a lot. I'm just not much for R&B or hip/hop for the most part.

This is kind of depressing but.....Britney Spears. ALL of her CDs help me get ready lol!

It all depends on my mood as well!
I mostly have pandora running most of the time but my stations are always directly in sync with Trip-Hop.
Loads of 90s. Radiohead, London Suede, The Strokes, Jeff Buckley, Chemical Brothers, Portishead, Luscious Jackson, Phantogram, Bjork Lily Allen......loads of 90s...lots of Jazz as well. And The Neptunes. Oh god..old school...

@Zoe Wow. I haven't heard those bands in years. I have to admit the whole Pop-Punk genre sort of escapes me. Won't be surprised if I have a few songs in my library though.
@Lorena Evanescence! I used to listen to them quite a bit. Have you had a listen to a band called Lacuna Coil? They have a similar sound but are based in Italy. And I love folky romantic stuff. I've had Amos Lee in my "Chill" playlist for the longest time. And I kick it old school with James Taylor and Carole King. Ooh! And Eva Cassidy is beautiful.
@Binks ALL of her CDs, huh? Wow. That's very brave of you to admit. Haha. I have a few of her songs in my library, too. Shush. Don't tell anyone. Hyuk!
@Kallie OMG! I LOVE the Nineties! The Brit Invasion was one of the greatest things to ever happen. Lurve Oasis. So many great female-fronted bands got big, too. The Cranberries, No Doubt, and my personal favourite, Garbage (Shirley Manson is my girl crush *BLUSH*). Hmm... Lemme see... What else... Um, DUH! The Grunge Era! Love it-love-love it.
Now excuse me while I channel my 90's art school phase.

lmaoooo, I know it's not something I'm proud of but for whatever reason I love her CDs to get ready, they like get me in the mood to go out and party ;)
I also LOVE pandora because of their ability to select songs similar to the artist of your choice.
I also love Shakira, Omega, Prince Royce, Wisin y Yandel (all Spanish artists)
but then I also love Hip hop, R&B....when I'm angry I'll listen to Three days grace, greenday, white snake, guns n roses, red velvet revolvers.... depressed Evanescence or Adele then I go to a lot of 90s especially Hip hop .... I like 2pac, snoop dog, cash money , Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Biggie, Nas , LOVE common....and those are some of the artist I can think of out of my head. LIL WAYNE is my man, lol I like all the top hits too.....Love Frank Sinatra , Jimmy buffett , Billy Joel....when I want to relax I'll listen to Christian Tunes.
I can't think of anymore but I know I'm missing a lot, hahaha :) I liked this topic!

I think it depends on what mood I'm in and where I'm going to when I get ready. If i'm getting ready for a tutorial it's usually electro. That usually gets me in the mood. If I'm getting ready for a date it's definitely R&B all the way :)

@lorena i thought i was the only one that listened to anna nalick! she's on of my favorites. i've never met anyone else that's heard of her, haha

i don't know why, but i usually have my tv on when i'm getting ready...which could explain why i get distracted & end up taking awhile longer (whoa...insight!)...but i'd probably turn on a rap playlist (lil wayne, drake...you know) or some brand new (my favorite band ever). i know it's on opposite ends of the musical spectrum...i'm strange like that! something upbeat or dancey fo sho.

@Lex: Yes Lacuna Coil is another great one, as well as Within Temptation. They have similar sounds to Evanescence and I love to listen to them as well.
@Abbie B: I know, right? I never find anyone who knows her but I think she's great. Her lyrics really get me. Good to meet another fan! =D

So many artists to check out, so little time. Have to check out all these artists the moment I get back.
I really enjoy listening to Rap/Hip-Hop in a foreign language. I used to have the "Taxi" soundtrack on repeat. Heh. When I find something I like, I get just a tiny bit obsessed.
