can you sharpen the nyx jumbo pencils? they seem to be made out of plastic, so i was afraid to sharpen mine...probably a really dumb question, but thought id ask anyways...

Get their pencil sharpener OR melt the product out of the pencil and store in individual jars (the type you see loose pigment in, can be found at craft stores).

a large sharpener wont work for it? and how do you depot it? heat the entire stick or something?

Most pencil sharpeners won't work because the jumbo pencil is too large. I have the same problem with several Wet 'n' Wild pencils.
As for depotting it, you need to melt it. You can do that with a hair dryer which will melt the kohl but not the plastic casing. I recommend getting a heat resistant glove (about $5 at Sally's or $10 at Walmart/Target/Walgreens) so you don't burn your hand if you try that route.
A cheating way is to leave it in a window so the hot sun beam will melt it. To get it to melt into the pot you'll need to prop up the crayon so the kohl will melt straight into the pot. You can buy a wire basket ($1) at Target or a dollar store to prop it up. Flip the basket upside down so the bottom is at the top and slide the pencil through the wires, place the pot under to catch the kohl and eventually the sun will melt the product. It takes longer but you don't burn yourself.

ahhhh ok!! i actually have several of those baskets from the dollar store, and i live in florida, so i dont think ill have a hard time finding a sunny place to sit it so it depots :P

LOL I'll take some of that Florida heat right now! Brr!
If the sunny ledge trick doesn't work you can use the hair dryer method. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

LOL I've chickened out on new stuff as well. Experiment the melting technique on something cheap like a Wet 'n' Wild jumbo crayon since it's similar to the NYX jumbo. And it's only $1.99 or 99 cents when you find it on sale.

Nice Jessenia! Very nice indeed! Love how beautiful they look in the pots.
I'm really in love with that purple, green and gold in Jessenia's pic above. So pretty!
So I decided to depot all of my jumbo Wet 'n' Wild pencils that I've collected over the years but couldn't use because they either didn't fit my pencil sharpeners OR they were in plastic tubes. I found that pushing the product out with the plastic end of a thin makeup brush worked best (less mess) then taking the metal end of a rat-tail comb to break it up before melting it so it becomes creamy worked best.
The one that didn't work well, didn't like to melt, was this black glitter crayon I picked up years ago at Walmart. It was distributed by a company called Xtreme Cosmetics in NYC. The company is now out of business and I have no clue as to what the name of the product was OR the name of the color. it's a black crayon with LOTS of glitter. Really pigmented and creamy. It just did not like to melt regardless of how long I left the hair dryer on it.

Thanks Yasmin!
I found a video showing another way of depotting them without heat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0GyRpQViY8
You may want to try that method, just make sure you sanitize everything you're using. If I was to try this method I would still depot them in a 5gram jar and use a hair dryer at the end just to smooth the product out in the jar.

Yeah, I pushed most of mine out. Less mess. Once inside the container I used the metal rat tail point to break it up as I heated up to smooth it out. Some worked best with the push out method and some with the melting method. My red one was one that the heat worked best because it had this weird twisting insert.

You can use a 2$ wet n wild sharpener on any of the pencils.
