Massage your scalp the next time your washing your hair. Doing this for about 2-3 minutes helps promote hair growth. I have been doing this for months now and I have notice my hair growing at a faster pace.
Also like Mandy said a good diet helps a lot. Eating healthy and exercising makes sure your hair and body is in good shape.

I'm not sure if this really works, but I feel like that's how my hair grew so fast. I tie my hair pretty tight and in a bun half of my day everyday and I swear my hair just kept growing and growing lol. I'm not sure if this is a myth, but I heard if you pull on it a lot, (not too hard) it can speed up the growth!

I used to have super long hair, but I chopped it all off. I miss it. But when had long hair, I tried not to use a blow drier or any heating tools, and I made sure not to towel dry my hair. I would squeeze the water out, If I did much more than that I would have super split ends. Often times I would have to skip the necklaces and collared shirts so that I would not get tangles. Leave in conditioner was also a big help.

I dont know if you know this... but you hair grows faster in the summer. So take care of it. Get your routine trims, use heat protectors if you are using flat iron/blow dryer/curling iron. If you pay attention you will see that your hair grows faster in the summer.

Use good products! Always check the ingredient labels, I never use any products from Walmart or any chain brand. Too many surfactants that just coat the hair and make it worse! I use pure Argon Oil to style and Kenra shampoo and Conditioner (I love Kenra!) and use the redken cleansing shampoo once a week. I also switched my hot tool brand too Babyliss and my hair has never been so soft and shiny like it is now!

Did you know that many high end shampoos contain the SAME ingredients as drug store lines? I buy my shampoo at Target AND at professional only distributors. I'm currently using TIGI's Catwalk but I also use Suave's "pro" shampoo and conditioner and I honestly see NO DIFFERENCE other than the price. Seriously, most pro products are at least a 50% if not more markup.
As Mandy K. stated above the BEST thing for healthy hair to get a trim at leave every four to six weeks. That will keep split ends at bay which in turn keeps the hair from tearing apart. Think of it this way. You have a sweater and a piece of the yarn comes undone. What happens if you don't trim that piece of yarn and fix it? It begins to unravel the sweater. In a way that's a split end on your hair as the split will slowly travel up the length of the hair.
Also properly washing and drying your hair is a must. I've previously posted on how to properly wash your hair so I won't go over that here. Don't use a brush on wet hair, use a wide tooth comb on damp but not wet hair. Don't rub your hair with a towel, squeeze dry. Skip the hair dryer as much as possible especially if you have a cheap dryer.
Use hair protectants when using a curling or flat iron.
Avoid hair products with alcohol when possible or at least where the primary ingredient is alcohol.

I agree w/ Clara - I just pull my hair back in a tight pony tail, and it helps w/ the growth. Massaging the scalp during a shower helps too. I don't trim too often though - 2 cuts/year for me, since my split ends aren't the apparent kinds thanks to using my Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum.

I take Pierre Michel's RepHair supplements. They really work. Whenever I take them, my hair starts growing really fast (fast enough that I notice it). I always tell my friends who want to grow their hair out for a big event (wedding) to take these supplements and it's worked for them too. I also like Pantene's Beautiful Lengths conditioner. It really helps detangle, so hair doesn't get pulled out and can grow longer.

I wash my hair every 2-3 days. Also, I try to trim my hair regularly (every 6 weeks-2 months.) my hair is almost to my belly button.

I wasn't into makeup or hair care back then, knowing what i know now my hair could have been in great condition and resembled Angelina Jolies maybe? Oh well, im loving my hair now and look after it, even though lightening it must be torture but i give it plenty of love in return with treatments and olive oil masks :)

@Cristine... I have been wondering about Ovation cell therapy and Mega-Tek (though im not sure if it can be used in my type of hair or only black hair). You really really grew that much!!! That is amazing. I have thinner hair but it is long at the moment. I want it to be thicker and longer. I know that what I want is not going to happen but if it was stronger and longer I would be so happy. Do you have a before and after picture (during the 3 months)?

Getting regular trims and definitely investing in good shampoos and deep conditioners... I LOVE Pureology shampoo and Living Proof Humidity free. I also love Macadamia Repair Mask and L'Oreal Repair mask. Come check out my blog. I have hair posts and products that are definitely CLW's (can't live without) for good hair care.

keep ur hair clean, never rub ur hair in d towel after washing, let them air dry.
never comb wet hair.
cut off d splits.
after every wash, give ur hair a vinegar rinse wid d vinegar diluted in cold water. it will close d cuticle of the hair preventing splits n makes hair shiny.
use a moisturising n nourishing hair mask every week.. i use a homemade thing.. i mix yoghurt, almond or olive oil, natural henna(i have dark hair so d henna color doesnt show) n cover my hair in a shower cap n wash after 3-4 hours.
clarify.
always use a conditioner.
use olive oil on d ends.
eat lean pritein, egg every day is a great option as it also has biotin which is essential for hair growth. other foods containing biotin r bananas n milk etc.
never tug on ur hair.. it can damage d roots, be gentle.
get a good hair cut that suits u n easy to handle, even in long hair.
hope this helps!!
take care! :)

I also think that taking a vitamin is great for helping hair growth. I would recommend prenatal vitamins or just biotin. Super cheap, you can buy it at target or the drugstore, and totally helps me have healthy hair, skin and nails. I would try it :)
