Theres a huge hype over BB cream.. anybody mind telling me what it is/ why it's so amazing and what not??

There are a few topics already on BB cream here. I did a quick search here, here's the link.

I use BB Cream. It's a tinted foundation-moisturizer from Korea, claims to have green tea extracts and what-nots! All the celebrities are getting really into it when they want a light weight lack-of make up look.

Personally not a fan. I got mine as a gift and I wouldn't pay otherwise. I would rather put on clear fx primer (if I had one) or smashbox or make up forever primer in green if i wanted to keep it "real" throughout the day.

I found this article the other day comparing BB Creams and a Tinted Moisturizer.

BB creams are supposedly all-in-one products. Face base, tinted moisturizer, spf, concealer, etc etc.

Depending on the brand, some BB creams are thicker than others. They usually come in just 1 or 2 shades which makes it limited for folks to use. One trick I learned during a makeup class is that you can mix this with your foundation if you don't have a primer on hand.

Right now I have the Lioele Triple the Solution BB Cream and I love it! It is the first BB Cream I have used, however, so I can't compare it to any others. I tried this one because it is supposed to be one of the best for oily skin types and has more coverage. I know some of them are supposed to be like tinted moisturizer, but this one is quite thick and one pump is MORE than enough and I get full coverage...even more than my MUFE HD Foundation. The only thing I'm not fond of is the smell since it tends to linger for a few hours. This is my "foundation" of choice unless I know I will be outside for a long time.

I'm really loving BB creams, for me it's an all in one solution - sunblock, moisturizer, anti-wrinkle, anti-pigmentation and foundation. Slap it on in the morning and you're ready for the day. I guess the trick is finding the right consistency and color for your skin. Unfortunately most of them only come in 1 color :(

I live in Hong Kong and all my friends told me that BB creams don't work as well on European skin tones, but I thought I'd try it out anyway. So on a recent visit to Korea, I tried a heap of top brands including; Missha, Skin79, BRTC, Skin Food, Etude House and Hanskin. Missha is supposed to be the best, but I didn't like the color and texture when I tried it.

I would highly recommend Skin79, I've been using it everyday for the past 3 months. No breakouts, good coverage and noticeably less pigmentation (which I really struggle with). It has a thickish consistency when you first apply it (so just use a little), and can look slightly grey on the skin - but once it's rubbed in and you apply the matt powder over the top it looks fine. Hope this helps :)

The Skin79 line, which I use, have different consistencies among the different types they sell. I really need to do my follow up on the mini-kit I bought. Out of the four that I received in the kit I did end up liking the Gold Collection Super+ when mixed with foundation and the Super Beblesh Balm Triple Functions. I did find that the Gold Collection was thicker than the Triple Functions and the colors were different. On their own, I didn't like but I did like when mixed with foundation. That tip came from another Beautylish member and it works fantastic to the point where I can skip the primer.

Personally, I saw no change in my skin when using the BB cream on it's own or mixed with foundation. It didn't brighten my complexion or even out skin tone. I think that's more hype than fact. Still I did like it but have to warn people that it does contain silicone as do all other BB creams that I'm aware of. :(

They do send out free samples via their Facebook pages. And to be honest I don't know if the USA and North American sites are by the same US distributor or not.

My own next trial will be with their Super Perfection. I still would like to try Dr. Jart+ since it's now sold on Sephora but I'm waiting to go back to Vegas to try a sample there..

Okay, I now know the difference.

Skin79 North America is based in Canada, Skin79 USA is obvious US based.

I'm not a big fan of BB creams. A lot of them (Skin Food) tend to be too sticky. But I do find them useful when you're in a hurry and just want to slap something with a little more coverage on. I don't believe the "skin care" part at all, though.

Skin79 and Dr. Jart+ are not sticky.

I love BB Creams! I use Skin 79 Super+ BB Cream and it is wonderful! They tend to have a bit more coverage than Tinted Moisturizers and a lot more skin benefits. The only issue is that there is generally not a large color range and some can tend to make certain skin tones look ashy. I am extremely fair, however, the Skin 79 BB Cream doesn't make me look ashy at all. My skin is extremely acne prone and I feel like my BB Cream has help with my scarring and hasn't irritated my acne like some foundations tend to do. It has also improved my skin texture.

I saw on QVC the new smashbox one it seems interesting

What I've discovered since using BB cream, and why I can use it as a primer, is due to the fact it contains silicone. So much for it being healthy for the skin. It's utter nonsense when people claim it has "Has Soothing, Healing Properties" because it doesn't - especially the new US brands by MAC, Smashbox, etc. Also rubbish are the claims that it "Has anti-aging ingredients" because there are no such thing as anti-aging ingredients which is why products in the US have to be labeled as certain way like "reduces the appearance of".

Plus from what I've been finding out is that BB creams from Korea, China and Japan MAY contain placenta plus other items that you wouldn't find in a North American product.

This was posted on a different beauty site and I was shocked by what's in BB creams.
