Hi Steph :)

I just recently discovered the beauty of tinted moisturizer. TM is basically a sheer coverage used to even out your skin tone. It's a lot lighter than foundation, so i would def. suggest it for summer. If you have pretty good skin and don't need full coverage, i would check out TM! The one i've been using recently is the Covergirl Tinted Moisturizer. Cheap, easy to use, and feels like i'm wearing nothing!

Let me know if you try it out :D

Tinted moisturizer gives you a more natural look because it is more sheer and lighter (not as heavy).

I just bought the Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer today. I heard quite a bit of good reviews so I decided to try it out. It costs $42 which is a bit much but I am hoping it is worth it!

There are a bunch of cheaper alternatives but it really depends on what works best for your skin and how much you are willing to spend.

Tinted moisturizer is pretty much what tinted moisturizer is. It's a moisturizer for your face that has a tint to it. Some have a little extra coverage, but most tinted moisturizers are light coverage. They're perfect for the summer! They make your skin look so nice. I like to use one and then go over any blemishes, redness, or under eye darkness with a concealer and I lightly dust some powder and I have a perfected light face great for summer heat. Because full coverage foundations suck in hot weather. Ahah. But yeah. You could always easily make your own tinted moisturizer! Just mix a little of your face moisturizer with a little of your foundation!

These ladies have pretty much explained what it is, but my personal favorite thing to do is mix my own tinted moisturizer. I just take a little of my moisturizer and some of my foundation and mix them, then apply it mostly over my cheeks where I have a little bit of rosacea.

I always change to a tm in the summer and use concealer to cover blemishes!

I don't use any liquid foundations, myself, because I prefer the lighter coverage tinted moisturizer offers + some powder over top. Currently I'm using Tarte's Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Tinted Moisturizer, and I love it so far. It feels like the clay it's made out of, and blends into my skin really nicely. It also absorbs quickly and has a nice finish that isn't too shiny. I mix it with a bit of NARS's Illuminator in "Orgasm" before using, too. :)

So pretty much everyone summed up the difference between tinted moisturizers & foundations. My recommendation for a tinted moisturizer is the OCC Tint, the new tinted moisturizer from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. I've been using it all summer long, and the coverage is superb! If you're looking for a tinted moisturizer that has a bit more coverage, then OCC Tint is definitely where you should turn to. Foundation wise, my all-time favorite is the Makeup Forever Mat Velvet +, but it is pretty pricey.

Tartes tinted moisturizer is to die for. It looks and feels amazing. It's so simple and so quick to put on. Some days if I want a little more coverage but not cake on a full face of foundation still, I'll use one and just dust a light coating of powder foundation on top:]

I've been wanting to look into tinted moisturizer since I have bad skin and I think less foundation on my skin the better! (sun clear my acne!!!!)

Tinted moisturizer is just a moisturizer with a bit of color to it. It has a sheer coverage even though some brands do carry them in a slightly heavier coverage. I like it better cause it feels my skin can breath and taking it off later is a breeze. My favorite all time tinted moisturizer is by Laura Mercier. It cost $42 and you can get them at Sephora or dept stores.

If you have pretty much clear skin then I would suggest a tinted moisturizer as you don't need that much coverage. But if you have acne prone skin or discoloration or anything else you'd like to cover up then foundation would be a lot better. I guess you can also use tinted moisturizer for the days you don't want to wear too much makeup and if you want to spruce it up then foundation is the way to go!

I agree with Teneille. If you have "trouble" skin I would stay with foundation. If not, they you will just be mad at the TM. If you have few break outs spot concealer and then use the TM. I don't wear powder with my TM, just under my eyes to set my concealer. I do this in the summer for a natural glow. I do wear bronzer, for a dewy skin finish. I use Mac Studio Moisture tint in deep dark. But you can make your own TM by adding moisturizer to your foundation, that way you can select your own coverage.

I prefer foundation due to where I live San Francisco hardly gets hot only usually in September and if you have problems like hyper pigmentation or Roescea tinted moisturizer cannot help cover that.

I love Origins VitaZing, it is a moisturizer with an SPF of 15 but I don't think that people realize that it is tinted. It naturally adjusts to your skin tone giving you a wonderful glow. Another good one (I go back and forth between the two) is Perricone MD's No Foundation Foundation... naturally tints as well. Love these two, check them out! xo

I use Laura Mercier...weekends only...and love it. I have occasional breakouts. If you have a good concealer, you will get by. Thanks for the review/recommendation of the Tarte....I have gradually been getting into Tarte products and will try the TM.

I love M.A.C's Studio Moisture Tint SPF 15 because I find it has a nice coverage but still feels light and gives a natural satin finish. I've never had a problem with it breaking me out and I love to use it because I don't like the feeling of heavy foundation.
