What's your opinion on MAC's new limited edition split fibre brushes?

I had a random hankering for some beauty news, so I decided to mosey on to Musings of a Muse to see what was new, and read about MAC's new collection launching in July. They're going to be releasing split-fibre brushes, which looks like two brushes mashed together into one ferrule...

Being a big brush collector, I'm thinking I might be suckered into trying these. It could give one brush more than one use, but it also could completely render it useless by making it half as useful if one side is not effective at doing what it needs to do...

So what are your thoughts? Anyone find any news on it other than the photos from the press release?

Let me know what you guys think!

I'm skeptical.. sounds like a marketing ploy, but I'd prefer to use them first. The potential for awesome is there, because duo-fibre is nothing new.. it's just the way they've been bundled that makes it different.

We shall see.

Same! I didn't quite understand the need to make "limited" edition brushes when I first started makeup, so I never bought into it... however, I am kicking myself for missing out on MAC's 226 - and it took me ages to hunt down the 165, but I don't regret it for a minute...

I just wish there was more of a break-down as to how to use this in their press release!  =(

Yea I saw those pictures on Temptalia and was intrigued as well. I wonder what the purpose of making the brushes like that is for? The collection as a whole seems pretty interesting as a whole, I think I will probably end up caving for the lipsticks & lip glosses, and possibly the brushes if the reviews are good. I'm really intrigued by those brushes!

I saw some more info on how to use these on another blog-check it out here

"For skillful application, four new limited-life split fiber brushes a concise half and half compilation of natural and synthetic fibres both sides deposit and distribute color for a soft diffused look use the natural side; for an application the blends, buffs and fuses the color to the skin, use the synthetic. Like any limited edition, these elements start off rare, and tend to get rarer… get rich while you can!"

Sounds pretty cool

The mini collection was meant for those that wanted the convenience of smaller amounts for travel. Even though it's easy enough to pick up your own smaller containers, many people prefer to just have something pre-done. The smaller bottles adhere to the US travel restrictions for liquid products in carry on luggage.

I've not seen many companies where you actually retain value when downsizing. It tends to be a better value to buy more, even if the initial expense is higher.

Tamara R. - I so agree! I'd rather buy my own travel bottles to dispense my stuff into for travel, but there are many brand enthusiasts that enjoy things such as the mini-collection, so to each their own.

If I were in a pinch, I would shell out the money for it though - just because I've lost so many beauty products to customs when traveling internationally just because I forgot to pack the right sized product.  =(

Aw. I would be so angry.. :\

On the mini's, I am thinking of just getting the fix+ and cleanse off oil so that once the bottles are empty I can clean them out and refill from my full sized ones. Especially the fix+ as I like the way it sprays.
I will have to check they actually open like normal bottles though for that.

The Fix+ one does, for sure.. not sure about the oil.
