I would say that what you should get depends on your needs and skin... I would recommend a mineralize skin finish natural as they are quite nice on the skin and get some things for more the intent of trying for now. If you like lipsticks, pick out a lipstick that suits your tastes that you'd get a lot of wear out of. Same with eyeshadows. I don't feel I could recommend specific colors because things vary from skin tone and personal tastes and so my "must haves" may not work for you.
I'd also recommend a paint pot as I find them to be nice and easy and quick when getting ready in the morning. I like Rubanesque and Bare Study as they're both pretty shimmery colors.
Basically, stick to things you know you'll use a lot. :]
