I've never bought anything from MAC before, because of its price. But recently I've decided to purchase a couple things, but I can't decide what. What are your suggestions?

Things I love at MAC:

The eye kohl (good call, cassie j.)
The skin and body foundation- great for a natural, dewy finish
The mineralize face powder (I don't dig the blush, however)
Cream color bases b/c u can use them as ...everything!
I love all my lipsticks too...
The lip glass is a lil heavy for me but it stays put they come in great colors
The eye colors.... busily at work with my palatte in the pic below (check out the awesome color variety you can create)
And I hear the gel liner is amazing from a very reliable source...

If you're going to get eyeshadows, you MUST get Shroom - it's a great neutral highlight color that is not too shimmery, not too matte since it's a satin finish. It's also so finely milled, it DOUBLES as a great face highlight for your cheeks and the bridge of your nose.

If you have yet to use a gel liner, their fluidline in Blacktrack is a great liner. Great lasting power, and very black.

Blushes: I recommend Dollymix [scary bright pink in the pan, but it's a sheertone blush that gives you a nice pinky flush] and Peaches [the perfect matte peach that gives you a glow w/o covering your face in shimmer]

Brushes: 239, 217, 219, 224 [for eyeshadow] 263 [angled liner brush], 138 [perfect tapered powder brush that can do blush, contour and all over powder]

I can't recommend a foundation or concealer though - ask for samples if you are interested in any to try them out for yourself to make sure you don't react negatively to it.

MAC's fluidline in blacktrack works really nicely.. The only thing is that it dries out before you reach the end, which is why I ended up switching to Bobbi Brown's gel liner. But MAC is a bit cheaper, and I'm sure there is some way you can salvage the gel liner when it becomes dried out.

Their brushes are absolute must haves. The 224 is an awesome all-purpose brush.. Excellent for concealer and shadow. The 217 is my personal favorite, because it's another do-it-all kinda deal.

Their lipsticks are my all-time favorites. They are relatively inexpensive compared to other high-end companies, and the color range is fantastic! I prefer their "amplified" finish lipsticks because they last a really long time. My all-time favorite MAC lipstick is Chatterbox. Another great neutral-ish color is Fanfare, and Lovelorn. I really love their lipglosses and dazzleglasses, even though they are a bit sticky, but that doesn't really bother me much at all. Their lip liners are fantastic as well.. I feel as if MAC really excels in the lip product department.

Their eyeshadows are pretty awesome as well, so it's really up to you and what kind of colors you want. I've never tried their blushes or foundations so I can't really give you any advice there! Hope this helps!

I would definitely suggest Satin Taupe and Club as far as eyeshadows go! Satin Taupe is a great every day color, and Club is this awesome warm brown, that has a teal duo-chrom to it. So you can bring the teal out more when you want something a little more fun by putting a green or blue base under it, and then then it out into your crease so it looks like you have a brown in your cease. It's awesome! I love it so much. Also, if you're into bright colors, I love Parfait Amour and Chrome Yellow.

For high end purchases I like t make sure I am getting the best quality and a unique product I can't find for less.
With that in mind here are my picks:
eyeshadows: club, sumptuous olive, mystery, omega, cork, print
mineralize skin finish natural
cremesheen glass (non-sticky lip gloss that looks beautiful and feels amazing)
lipsticks- all are great!
brushes: 217 is necessary, 239 is versatile, 129 can be used for bronzer, powder, blush, all the brushes are great so buy whichever ones will be useful for you.

For foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer, eyeliner, etc I prefer other high end or drugstore brands.

eye kohl in smolder just like the other ladies have said. :)
the eye shadow in brulee is a really nice neutral color. also the eyeshadow carbon is an awesome matte black shadow! i also love the color woodwinked. a beautiful neutral shadow with some gold shimmer to it.
the fluid line in black track is a must! the other colors are a lot of fun as well :)
like jamie said, the 217 brush is a must have. you can use that brush in so many ways, and its the ultimate blending brush. the 209 is an amazing brush to have as well. its small so you can contour your cheeks or highlight certain areas. you can also use the 209 to put on on blush. you should also have an awesome gloss in a color that suits you. :)

The Blot Powder. It does a fantastic job of curbing sebum production.

yes, I agree for smolder eye kohl ^_^
I recommend you buying a paint pot like bare study or rubenesque (I personally recommend bare study !) it's a great cream eyeshadow with a little shimmer or as a base, 2 in 1 product ! :D Hahaha
with the eyekohl and the paint pot, go for a nice blush. For powder blush, I really like pink swoon. But now summer's here and I really am into creamblend blush (ladyblush if you are wondering)
Hope that it was helpful ! :)

The things that I love from Mac are their paint pots, blot powder, studio fix powder, lip glosses and lipsticks. I only purchase eye shadows that I really, really love from Mac.

Definitely the eyeshadows, lipsticks, some lipglasses and MSF, but stay away from Studio fix fluid it will break you out if you have oily skin. I also love the pigments and paintpots and paints

Pigments are a must and a great investment. I am a very big fan of the lipsticks with the cremesheen finish- as they are very moisturizing and long lasting. Also- the sheen surpreme lip colors are fantastic! You will be drawn to the dazzleglasses but beware- they're quite sticky on bare lips.

My personal must haves are:
-Smolder Eye Kohl (intense black eyeliner)
-Painterly Paint Pot (great eyeshadow base)
-Carbon Eyeshadow (matt black)
-219 Pencil Brush (great for smudging eyeliner)
-224 Blending Brush (great for in the crease)
-Matte Texture Cream (great primer with silicone to block oil and sweat all day)
-On The Hunt SuperSlick Liquid Eyeliner (opaque black liquid eyeliner with a great applicator)
-Lip Conditioner (get the one in the pot because you get the most product for the price and it's the most moisturizing)
-Gently Off Eye/Lip Makeup Remover (takes off any eye makeup, even waterproof products)
-Zoom Lash Black Lash Mascara (blackest black)
I always get these and I find them the most basic and anyone can use them...

I'll only tell you one thing!
MAC's Stars'N'Rockets Eyeshadow. It's absolutely lovely!
I get so many compliments when I wear it, either by itself or with other shadows!

I would say it definately depends on what you need in your collection...
if you're looking for something natural i'd go for all that glitters eye shadow, shy girl lipstick, high tea lipstick, and painterly paintpot
If you want something more out there and fun i'd go for stars n rockets eye shadow, or MAC red lipstick
Those are some of my favorites

I would defintely say the eyeliner, the lip glass because it really lasts on your lips, foundation, and eye shadows and pigments! I love them all!
