I'm not really a blush person but I always put it on to complete my look. I never really understood the purpose but my co-workers always insisted on it. I just can't get into it though lol. Do does anyone else ever just skip on the blush? Do you ALWAYS go for blush? If you are a die hard blusher, what do you suggest I try? Sharing is caring!

Blush was the last makeup item I became interested in... but I went years without using it to complete my look. Personally, I think it was the last thing I got into because I never knew what to look for in a quality blush, and many were really chalky because I opted for cheaper options...

The first blush color that really hit it home for me was Peaches by MAC. It gave such a beautiful peachy glow w/o shimmer and glitter. Dollymix is another favorite must-have for me. My favorite more affordable option is Physician's Formula's Happy Boosters in Natural and Rose. I do skip the blush whenever I opt for heavier contouring depending on my mood though.

I've also just purchased Tarte's new Amazonian Clay blushes in Tipsy, which is a great bright orange perfect for summer and Amused is a great bubblegum pink close to MAC's Pink Swoon. The have great lasting power and pigmentation, but I'm still geting used to the chalkier texture. I always set w/ a setting spray to help the pigment blend into my skin to avoid the powdery look, and problem solved! =)

MUFE HD blushes are great cream blushes, but they are hard to work with. The best application method is using your fingertips to apply, then buff it out w/ a brush.

Any of these are my best recommendations - hope that helps!

Thanks for dropping some knowledge Soma! The shimmer element is also a big turn off for me. I'll mos def look into the Physician's Formula Happy Boosters especially.

I love blush! NYX, MAC, NARS, & Milani are some of my favorite blushes. But if you can't get into blush why not just wear bronzer then?

I tried NYX's cafe mosaic blush. It was ok but it seemed kind of ashy to me. I never thought of using bronzer. Thanks!

I was definitely like you...I used to hate blushes! Recently, though, I've just started using the Benefit boxed blush in CORALista and I love it. As long as I don't overdo applying it, it looks really natural and pretty. Maybe you could try using a cheek stain like the one from Tarte?...Thats actually what I started out using. Its less drying since its a gel, and the color is also very buildable (and not shimmery at all, at least the one I have) so it looks more like a natural flush than like you have a lot of cheek color on. =)

Tarte sounds cool. Do you just swipe it on and spread it with your fingers or dab it and brush it out?

I think you can either dab it directly on your cheeks and then blend it with your fingers (which is what I do), or you can also put it on your fingers first and then dab it on your cheeks that way. The second way might actually be better. lol. Because of the consistency, I don't know that a brush would work well with it.

I have a love/hate relationship with blush. Sometimes I LOVE wearing it and when I do I have on NARS Deep Throat, but sometimes I just don't like how it looks. part if it could be how I'm applying it or the brush I'm using.

Though I'd say how you feel about blush is how I feel about bronzer. I find myself buying it, but I hardly ever use it. Everyone RAVES about Laguna, but I'm not a fan about how it looks on me.

Alrighty so I have come to 2 conclusions...
1. I'm gonna be looking into NARS' blushes because you all seem to have tried them

2. Stains may be worth a try

THANKS!!!! This was super informative. It's nice to know I'm not alone in my indifference to blush lol

The PF blushes I mentioned aren't so much shimmery as they are luminous. I can't stand blushes w/ chunks of shimmer... *cough* "Orgasm"... *cough*

The Happy Boosters blushes give a nice glow w/ a sheen VS shimmer, which is why I like them. For mattes, my favorites are definitely the two I mentioned from MAC, and MUFE.

If you are looking into blushes on a budget, La Femme blushes are just as pigmented as NARS blushes - the only downfall is you can only access them in specialty stores and online retailers.

I never was really into blush in the beginning. And like you, I just used it to complete my look. But as I got more into makeup, I noticed it added a pop to the completed look and brightens the face. And now I almost always use blush! Sometimes you need that color because 1) your foundation may cover you natural color on your cheeks or 2) you may just not have enough color on your cheeks. I'm not saying you always need to use a blush, because its more of a personal preference.

I use Rimmel London's Blush in Pink Rose. Its pigmented and has a slight shimmer that really highlight your cheeks.
