Help using facial brush with solid cleanser

Hello all! So I purchased the Face Complexion Brush from Sephora recently...but I'm confused about how to use it with my cleanser, which is in bar form, not liquid. I guess this would also apply for the Clarisonic as well, since its the same idea. So far I've been lathering the cleanser and applying it to my face and then using the brush over it, but I feel like when I use the brush it just wipes away the lather instead of actually massaging it into my skin. I'm not sure if there's an easier way to do it, or if I should be applying it directly to the brush somehow. Any ideas? thanks :)

I would make sure that both your face & the brush are damp and then apply the cleanser to the brush fibres themselves. A light hand can help too, I've found too much pressure isn't necessary when using brushes.

thanks I will try that out!

Question - what facial cleanser do you use? I'm going through a "skin meltdown".. my skin is breaking out & extra oily even using the cleanser I've used for years.

A friend suggested I try a bar instead of liquid/foam type of cleanser.. so I figured I'd ask.

Thanks :)

Dee - Right now I'm using a bar from Fortune Cookie Soap called the "Clearly Complexion Bar". http://www.fortunecookiesoap.com/collections/bar-soaps/products/clear-complexion-bar-soap I started using it about a month or so ago probably and its really helped my skin! I still get some acne but not the crazy breakouts I used to get. Lush also has a bar called "Coalface" that is supposed to be really good for skin that is super oily: http://www.lushusa.com/shop/products/face/cleansers/coalface. It seems that products that contain a type of clay and/or charcoal of some sort seem to be pretty effective in combating acne and oily skin, so if you can find a bar that contains those that may help your skin!

For the longest time I've been breaking out like crazy, let alone have been very oily pretty much all my life. I even went to the dermotologist sometime in February, and still around mid-April I was breaking out like crazy. Not a just a pimple here, or there... multiple pimples, pastules!!, here and there and every where. I was losing hope on the Differen and Duac (Benzol Peroxide...sp?) that my doctor gave me.

Anyway, I would use tons of concealer and liquid foundation because I wanted to cover up the scarring and the new acne I was getting. However, for about 1.5 weeks now I switched to mineral makeup. The mineral makeup provides the same amount of coverage, but I don't have that "heavy" feeling on my face anymore. I guess now my skin can finally breathe. That and I switched to CeraVe (per the recommendation of the user Soma S.) face wash, and my skin has cleared up tremendously!! CeraVe has Ceramides... which is fatty acids found in skin cells. So CeraVe helps to replenish the skin's natural ceramides. Not too forget CeraVe is probably the only Drug Store brand that has it, compared to majority of the Department Store brands that has it... but is 2x-3x the cost.

I felt very self concious knowing I had all these bumps on face from the pimples I would get everyday, but now a day, my skin has been pretty smooth. I still have a ton of scarring, but I'm just glad I ain't breaking out as bad as before.

Oh and per the recommendation of another user (Mandy K.) I use 100% Witch Hazel as a toner. This can also be found at any Drug Store. I notice when I tend to pick at my pimples more than the usual, I put WH on a cotton round, place it on the "pimple" for a minute or two... and it keeps it from getting out of hand.

Sorry this is a long post, but just wanted to share what I've did these past few weeks... which pretty much helped me clear my skin (for the most part). I do have to work on my oilyness though =|
