I was just curious as to what some of you use to make your video tutorials? For the few I've made, I've either used my web cam on my lap top which isn't that great of a quaility, or I've used my cameras recording option. I was thinking of buying a some what cheap but decent hand held camera. Any suggestions? Also what editing programs do you use? I just got windows movie maker.

Hey Krystale. I use to record videos of myself off my personal digital camera the Sony Cyber-shot. When I record myself doing makeup on others I use a JVC Everio. To edit, I use movie maker as well. Hope that helps :)

If you're really looking into investing into a device easy and affordable, look into the Flip cameras. I know that one of the gurus use it, but I forget her name (sorry!). They're really good!

I go between my digital camera (Panasonic Lumix) and a camcorder (also Panasonic). Most digital cameras do a pretty good job these days though for videos, just need to figure out their individual settings. Another thing to consider is where you'd be filming; will you need a tripod (bought or self made) - some cameras are easier to set up than others.
If you're on a PC Windows Movie Maker is a pretty good place to start. If you get into making a lot of videos on a regular basis there are other programs out there, but they can be pricey and complicated.

I use my dad's camera (forgot the brand, but expensive one) or my laptop. I'm saving up for my own quality camera, but until then, my subscribers on YT understand that I am working with all I can. I use Sony Vegas Pro 9 to edit the videos worth editing on my channels. It's too pricey, but my dad got it for free from his work, so yea for me, I guess (:

Thanks, Krystale for starting this talk. I was wondering the same thing. I'm wanting to start a channel (what can I say, you beauties inspire me) but I was wanting some more info first. So, thank you, ladies for all your tips! Much appreciated!!

I just use the video function on my regular camera... it's not perfect, but the quality isn't that bad either. To edit I use Cyberlink Powerdirector... it's a little pricey, but not the most expensive one out there either, and top rated. It's super easy to use, and it lets me put little side images on my videos to block out the extra black space, plus they're unusual, so people tend to remember my videos.
If you want to check out my channel and see what I mean, I'll leave the link. Good luck with your channel!
