Do I have to go to school to be a freelance makeup artist? Is my cosmetology liscence good enough?

you dont have to go to school to freelance. I know a couple of great freelance artists that were self taught. But its always nice to have a some sort of professional training.

Tiffany - A lot of professionals in the industry tend to to have a main focus as well as a minor. For instance, I am a Freelance Makeup Artist (I do not work for any companies) with hairstyling skills. Most brides like to hire someone that can do both to save time and money. In your case it is opposite, just keep practicing! =)

Oops, I forgot to mention...I did go to school to become an MUA and took part in workshops for Hairstyling (I've been practicing hairstyling for more than 10+ years)

I think the more you know the better! And professional training couldn't hurt!
