There is a shampoo @ Michael's called Pink soap. And you can use it on any type of brush. I purchased it and it works like a charm. I had some eye brushes that were stained no matter how hard I cleaned them with baby shampoo. I used the Pink soap and took out the stains from the brushes. Here is a link about for you: http://www.misterart.com/g7783/Mona-Lisa-Pink-Brush-Soap.htm

Dawn dish soap mixed with a bit of extra virgin olive oil. Just swirl the brushes in that mixture and make sure you rinse it clean really good to get the oily substance out of there :)

I just use normal drugstore shampoo because I don't have baby shampoo on hand. I also sometimes make my own solution of a tiny drop of dish soap mixed with a mug full of water.
Baby wipes are great too for when you don't have time, but it obviously doesn't replace proper cleaning! :P

I use baby shampoo. To deep clean very dirty brushes e.g lip brush i use olive oil first then wash with baby shampoo. Also i sometimes use an antibacterial hand wash.

I mentioned this on twitter because my beautylish account wasn't working earlier, but for a deep clean I like using PHILOSOPHY's PURITY CLEANSER. Baby shampoo doesn't have an antibacterial in it, nor is it a makeup remover. I used baby shampoo first, then tried Purity after and realized that a lot of the product was still on the brushes. You definitely need a makeup remover to take out all the makeup because you don't want to break out.

You could definately use baby shampoo, but its not going to disinfect the brushes... Brush Cleanser were made to clean brushes...just like dish washing soap is made to wash dishes...would you use your dish washing soap to wash your hair? most of us would answer...no. lol. And brush cleanser is not expensive, most people/brands sell it for a little over $10 for a big bottle...That's just my take.

Everyone has their own way of cleaning their brushes, this is the way I do it. On my personal brushes, I use MAC's brush cleaner to spot clean my brushes everyday & deep clean them once a week. Baby shampoo, dishwashing soap & a tiny bit of olive oil works for me. The baby shampoo leaves my brushes soft; olive oil breaks down the makeup particles in my brushes that spot cleaning misses; dishwashing soap gets rid of all the oils.

Dont use alcohol on your brushes no matter what it will dry them out and make them really rough. Its a bad idea. But baby shampoo is probably your best bet unless you want to spend a little more money then mac has some or most other make-up brands. Im shure there is a large variety at sephora
