@Susanna - I can't see the Clarisonic breaking you out, as it is just a brush. There are a few things that could have contributed to this:
The brush head needs to be removed after every single use and rinsed off, soap and makeup build up behind the head. You also need to soak your head in 70% alcohol once a week for 2 minutes. Perhaps your skin was experiencing your skincare regime in full effect for the first time and went through a purge. :(
I hate when good people have bad experiences!

@Nancy-Lee I'm kind of a germaphobe, so i made sure to clean it thoroughly after each use. It broke me out because since it exfoliates, it brought all of the junk in my pores up to the surface, and didn't stop doing it, which caused all of the breakouts.
I'm just saying it isn't a miracle product for everyone, so don't get your hopes up. Other people have obviously had a lot of success with it, but I did not.

I totally understand. I just think it sucks.
:(
I wish it worked for everyone.

So other than the fact it's motorized what's the difference between something like Clarisonic and a normal (manual) facial brush? I've used a brush over the years (on and off) and love the soft bristles but but is Clarisonic worth $150 when a $1 brush suffices?

It's like the difference between using a manual toothbrush and an electric toothbrush like a Sonicare... There is def a difference in clean. I've been using mine religiously for a year now, and cringe at the thought it will ever die on me. I've tried using manual brushes previous to owning one, and I find the device to be more gentle and efficient at the task than my own heavy hand.

I bought the Clarisonic Mia. I choose this one over the others because it comes in more colours and because I didn't think that I needed to have more than 1 speed.
I use my makeup remover first and then add my cleanser to the clairsonic, use a toner and then moisturize.
When I was reading reviews I saw that everyone said that within a week they noticed that their skin was getting better. I started to get annoyed after the first week and my skin was getting worse. I got mine before Christmas and now almost a month later my skin is finally starting to improve drastically. My skin was not use to the deep pore cleansing that I was giving it and I broke out pretty hard core aka skin purging. But now that my skin is use to it and I use it regularly it's pretty amazing.
I love how the mia is small and easy to travel with, and the fact that I've been using it every night for over a month I've only had to charge it once. You don't need to press hard just circular motions all over and it does everything for you.
My face is softer, cleaner and clearer. It is expensive especially as a student but it is something that you will use forever. Promise

I have a mia (purchased when a 1 speed was 149) last year I purchased a Revolve from ddf for $96. I did a review on both in my nov purchase review video explaining the differences. Bottom line...get the revolve.

So, which one of these products is worth trying? I am a newbie and not sure which would be best to try first.

Don't even hesitate to buy it! I got the clarisonic mia and I am so in love! I am still in the breakout stage but besides that my skin is so soft and clean. Any time a friend comes over I make them try it and they fall in love as well! I purchased the deep pore cleansing brush which brought it to a whole new level. I am seriously so in love. The brush it came with was ok, but I had heard the deep pore cleansing brush was for oily skin, which is what I have. I love it so much! WAAYY worth the money! It doesn't bother me that it only has one speed, I don't think I would use any other speed anyway.

Forget how expensive it is and BUY IT.
I use it every night to remove my make up and deep cleanse.
I use Somme Institute Nourishing Cleanser with the Clarisonic
My skin feels so smooth!
You will LOVE IT.

It's somewhat normal for something as stimulating as the Clarisonic to break out the skin during the beginning. It's actually a good thing! This is because it's getting all the impurities from underneath your skin and getting them out, hence why you break out. I did as well, and was a bit nervous, but I am currently in Esthetics school and my instructor assured me this was a normal reaction. I actually rarely ever break out now after continuing to use the Clarisonic!

It's expensive but then again think about how much you spend on skincare anyway. We've read lots of reviews of the Clarisonic and 90% of people absolutely LOVE it and do not regret the price. Check out http://theclarisonicreviews.com and get a complete overview of what people think of the Clarisonic.

i hated mine. I used it once every 2 days because if i used it more than that my face would burn, i don't even use it for the full 1 minutes, 30 sec is the most i can take. I used my cleanser that i've been using for 3 years, and within a week it destroyed my face. I had giant red patches that were peeling, and itchy as hell, my skin was also really really rough. I didn't have any breakouts but my skin hurt like hell. so it was absolutely shit. Terrible. Horrible. I went and got my money back and i've never looked back.

My skin didn't like the clarasonic. I tried it for like 6 months because I figured my skin was purging initially. But i never stopped breaking out. I'm going to try using it less often.. And maybe it will work

I have the Mia and I LOVE it! I use it with Cetaphil's Gentle Cleanser every time I wake up and evening when I need to take off my makeup at the end of the day. Then I use Aveeno moisturizer with SPF. It takes of ALL your makeup and dirt. Leaves your skin soft, too. :)

I love my Clarisonic. My face feels so clean when I use it! I always wash it afterwards to make sure my cleanser is out of the brush-head and the body of the Clarisonic. =D

I think you should try it! even if you break out in the first 2 weeks, keep at it for a month. i think when i first started using it, i broke out a bit (might have been my cleanser, idk) but after a while my face really cleared up and was smooth as a baby's bum. ^^
i have the bigger version and my only regret is I didnt just go with the MIA.
been using mine for a few yrs. only thing is you need to replace the brushes ever couple of months…it smells funky otherwise. also, after 6 months or so you notice it not working as effectively, try switching your cleanser. i sometimes find my skin easily adapts to a cleanser and i need to switch products.
hope this helps. ^^

You break out at the beginning because the brush is getting rid of all the stuff that is clogging up underneath your skin and bringing it to the surface. Once that's all gone, it makes your skin clear and smooth, so persevere with it !
