I'm fairly new to the YouTube world. It hasn't been a year for me yet. So I was wondering, how you YT Partners got to that point. How long did it take you?
And again since I'm fairly new, how does one get sponsors? Do you reach out to them? Do you have to get lucky for someone to reach out to you?
Just wondering. I'd love to hear your stories/experiences :)

I'm not Partner, but I will share what I know, though. You get partnered through AdSense. Sponsorships usually come with how many subscribers one has, and they contact you. I found a link on YouTube concerning Partners : http://www.youtube.com/t/partnerships_benefits

:) I am a YT Partner... and here's what I know.

First of all you don't necessarily need "over 3k" subbies (A lot of people thought or told me that you needed at least 3k to apply) but you don't :)
Second, if you already have "ads" on some of your videos & you go and applied, then you have a high chance on getting accepted <3
Third, fill out the application AS BEST AS YOU CAN.

Oh another thing, it helps too if you get quite a lot of new subbies a day :) (I think that helped a lot on my part... I believe I had about 6k from dec-sep on my old channel, b3bed0ll and now 3k from sep-dec on my new channel b3bed0llxoxo)

My first channel was youtube.com/b3bed0ll: I applied for Partner on that channel when I hit 5k.. it took about a month for me to get accepted. (then my adsense got hacked :( *UGH* long story)

As for my new channel, youtube.com/b3bed0llxoxo: I applied for Partner once I got 1k and I got accepted in about 2 weeks :)

One of my friends, who applied for partner.. she had 4/5k, and it took about 2-3 months for her to get accepted.

Oh and as for Sponsorships
It goes both ways :) You can of course reach out to them (if you think you have a chance hehe) or they can reach out to you. Some companies are nice and will sponsor you (one time) even if you don't have a lot of subbies.

Ohh one thing I figured out, Sigma doesn't sponsor youtubers who aren't partners lol Well, that's how it was for me at least. They didn't sponsor me/or accepted my application until I was partnered with YouTube. loll :)

i'm partnered and I have nooo idea how it happened! haha - explanation:

I actually got contacted by YouTube offering me the sponsorship - i thought i had been hacked but I clicked it and they just said to fill in my adsense details and they got back to me a day or so later saying that i was a partner. stoked! haha

i think maybe it happened because im from New Zealand and not many people make videos :) i only had about 1500 subbies I think?

and with sponsorship, i agree with the lovely Charmaine above, it goes both ways :) i have had a few people ask me, and have also asked a couple :) xx

Just so all of you know,
#1 any channel can be partnered as long as you turn adsense on
#2 some networks will personally find the sponsors for you
#3 the more views you get the better deals you get
#4 don't give up, use giveaways to help you and well gooodluck
