hey guys!
so, for me, when it comes to my skin i am very careful in choosing products especially for my face.just because the great looking make up starts with a clear flawless skin.. now, i know we cant help our skin to break out sometimes but there are ways to prevent..therefore i prefer trusted quality products though its a little pricey.. i would like to know your opinion :)) thanks ladies!

I always trusted high quality products, until i realised none of them were combatting my acne, I came across a cheap 'low' end alternative that worked miracles - you can check it out on my blog :)

However I do see what you mean, and I do tend to believe higher end foundations are better for my skin, however I actually have no evidence to back this up, and after curing my acne with low end products I am doubting the importance of a higher price range.

I guess in my opinion, I trust higher end products more for my face, however there are always exceptions to the rule! :)

I don't trust any products, high end or low end. Hehe! Seriously though, they are all in the business to sell. After running into Paula Begoun's Don't Go to The Cosmetics Counter Without Me more than a decade ago (and now http://www.beautypedia.com), I've learned that high end or low end, they all use the same ingredients. The only reason I prefer higher end foundations is because they usually have a larger colour selection (especially for my skin tone) and I can take home a sample.

Seconding what Heather said...Paula Begoun has some great suggestions! (check out that beautypedia site she linked and you'll find some great products both high and low end). Personally, I love the CeraVe line which can be found at drugstores...its a tad pricey for drugstore, but it has some great ingredients and works well for my skin.

i also love beautypedia and agree with the girls. i have had high end products that i didn't like (clinique) and low end products i didn't like. however, i typically go low end on face products since i go through them so fast. i wear foundation, concealer and powder every day so I need them to be budget friendly. just try a new foundation out for a week with no other skin care changes and see.

I was amazing by how well the Aveeno Clear Complexion moisturizer (not the one wiht sunscreen in it tho- that one wasn't good) worked to clear up my acne prone skin. They're a fraction of the cost of the designer stuff but are so good! I use the Aveeno positively ageless sunblock lotion when I'm going to be outside, for some reason the ageless line was a lot better than the clear complexion with the spf.

To take my makeup off I use Neutrogena wipes in the blue package (only! the purple package makes me break out) and for fine lines I've been using Stridex pads with salycilic acid and the CVS brand wrinkle serum (can't say enough good things about this product) and also Murad's skin brightening serum for hyperpigmentaion.

My skin has never looked better and none of these products, well except the Murad's, were very expensive.

I honestly do not notice a difference in the way my skin reacts to high or low end products. It's more to do with how they look on my skin, if it's makeup. I think you just need to find what works for you, regardless of price.

Price does not dictate quality all the time... I learned the hard way when I was battling adult acne for almost 6 months after a massive breakout.

I'd spent $$$ on names like Clinique, Lancome, Sheisheido, Estee Lauder, Oil of Olay, Philosophy, etc... then I tried drugstore brands like Biore, Clean and Clear, Clearisil, Neutrogena, PanOxyl, Cetaphil... and nothing worked well.

Then I did more research and found CeraVe - for $12 at Target. It contained ceramides, which was found in many high-end brands ingredient list. I've been using it for almost a year now, and I'll never look back. After spending all that $$$, I still can't believe what fixed me was a combination of:

CeraVe cleanser and PM lotion: $12 + $14 = $26
Queen Helene's Mint Julep Mask: $5

So I spend about $31 for an entire system that works for me and it can be found at the drug store... when I used to spend just that much on a cleanser or more.  =/
