My lips are sososo dry. I have tried Fresh, Eos, Burt's Bees, Carmex, Softlips, ChapStick, and I think that's it but there could be more that I'm forgetting. It's really frustrating and recently the corners of my lips (where the top and bottom lip meet) have gotten really dry and cracked. Do you have any recommendations? I'd really appreciate it, thanks so much!

have you tried the clinical carmex? the intense one that comes in the yellow tube with the beeswax stuff inside it is super nice, even though it tastes gross. also, the jack black one is amazing! try the clinical ones, if you haven't already. and if all else fails, try going to the doctor :] good luck! xx

Do you bite your lips a lot, or rest your tongue on your lips when you concentrate? I'm asking because saliva is often the culprit for dry lips. That said, I'm a huge fan of Aquaphor -- it makes a fabulous lip balm. You might also try exfoliating with warm water and a wash cloth to slough off the dry skin. Good luck!

Exfoliate and moisturize them all the time.
Try tommix some 1tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon olive oil. Now get a soft tooth brush (like the one u use for babies) and put he mix on it then gently rub it on ur lips. Wash and apply which ever lip balm u choose.
Sometimes, the chapped lips (specially the sides like u say) are a lack or vitamins in ur body.
Just 2 b on the safe side, check with a doctor. I could be totally mistaken though :)

This is going to sound kind of "eh" but this stuff works! It's called Bag Balm and you can grab it at most pharmacies. It's made up in New England where I'm from where we have SUPER harsh winters and ridiculous summers, so you know it's made for extreme conditions ;) It was originally made for cow udders (plenty of cows up here haha), but it's also used for any chapped skin and it is fabulous!
You can read about it here: http://www.bagbalm.com/why-bag-balm-is-better.htm
And you can buy it at almost any pharmacy or online here: http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/bag-balm-protective-ointment/ID=prod10744-product

Staying hydrated is super important too. My lips chap if I do not drink enough water. I am enjoying Lush's balms though! =)

I agree w/ Kristina...Stay hydrated.
also, I've used some a bit of olive oil or vaseline, some sugar and a soft toothbrush to exfoliate. :)

If the weather in your area tends to be really cold and dry you might want to consider putting a humidifier in your room so you can get some moisture in the air when you sleep at night? And water! Make sure you drink enough. PS. I've heard that constantly putting product on your lips can actually make the dryness worse.. and if you tend to lick your lips subconciously a lot, become aware, and try to stop- that alone can really dry them out.

I peesonally have dealt with very dry lips.. Heres my remedy try it and see if it work... I apply a thick layer or carmex or vaseline on my lips.. Soak a washcloth in warm water.. Slowly go in circles on my lips.. Focusing on the areas that are the most dry.. Repeat the process until you feel your lips beginning to smooth over.. I do it atleast 3 times.. Then apply a lip balm.. I recommend Nivea milk and honey or Smith rosebud salve. Hope this works

Not necessarily asking you to answer this on the forum, but I know dry lips can be a side effect of some birth control pills. I always keep a tube of Vaseline lip therapy nearby. I keep one in my car that I constantly use while I'm sitting in traffic. :)

I've never been able to use carmex... i've tried using it when my lips were perfectly fine, more than once... just to try to soften them even more and keep them moisturized, but it makes my lips dry out.. it's so weird... i just mix up some sugar/honey/lemon juice into a paste and exfoliate with it, then put a little olive oil on my lips after rinsing....soooo soft! then i like to use the C.O. Bigelow mentha-lipshine from bath and bodyworks :)

Like Huda, I exfoliate and moisturize every day. I have very dry lips and every morning after my shower I use a baby wipe to exfoliate them and then I apply a good lip balm. I use Paula's Choice Lip Recovery Balm or RoC Enydrial Lip Balm. I really don't like the EOS balms, Carmex or ChapStick because they feel like they're just sitting on my lips.

Oh, and the cracks in the corners of your lips is an irritation called cheilitis/perleche. I usually get it when I chew too much mint/cinnamon gum, use certain menthol toothpastes or lip balms.

@Ashley G. I like the lemon added to honey & sugar.
I use honey & sugar alone but am gonna try the lemons with that too.
And YES, YAAAAYYY some1 else uses olive oil on their lips 2 moisturize after exfoliation. Usually ppl don't like how it feels & tastes.
I even splat some on my hands and nails while am at it :D

The only lip balm I use is Jack Black lip balm (you can get them at Sephora). I learned about them from Christine of temptalia.com who swears by them, and now I do, too!

Make sure to get a lip exfoliator & moisturize them afterwards. I have found that if you use the same chapstick after a while it's as if your lips become immune to them LOL try exfoliating them & using each chapstick randomly! I found that really has helped me out!

I've personally dealt with dry lips as well, especially during winter. I sometimes have a bad habit of licking them too much which seriously dries them out. Although, I then exfoliated my lips with this face mask! you can use this on any dry place on your body. I have a video on it so check it out! hopefully it helps! :) xo

So true about your lips getting immuneds :D
This actually goes fornall products. If u use the same shampoo & conditioner for long, same body lotion, nail hardener, face crea,pm, etc. Your body gets used ton them and DOES NOT BENEFIT FROM THEM LIKE BEFORE :S
Sad :( that's why sometimes u love a product and then u r totally over it & replace itnwith another that works better :D

I haven't had an issue with getting used to my current balms, but some lip products (especially if there's mint/menthol) can be very irritating and actually cause a feeling of dryness.
I am a fan of Paula Begoun's advice. Here is a great article and #19 addresses if your body gets used to products: http://www.cosmeticscop.com/true-or-false-20-beauty-myths.aspx
Specifically with hair products, the reason your hair doesn't feel as nice as it did originally is because of product buildup. When I was shampooing my hair, I would use a clarifying shampoo (I still use one before I colour my hair) once a week and it would feel glorious again. :D

I highly recommend Aquaphor, my dermatologist recommended to me when I had extremely dry lips.
@Heather H. what clarifying shampoo to you use for color treated hair?

Question...do you lick your lips? if so stop. You deplete the natural moisture from your lips. Also try prepping the lips with any hydrator then exfoliate the lips about 2 times a week. Use balms rich in shea or jojoba oils instead of bees wax as then oils are easier to penetrate the skin to moisturize from within. Hope that helps and good luck!
