I have always used baby shampoo with a mix of baby conditioner ...rinse really well..squeeze excess water gently.. & I lay it on a washcloth, slightly angled down to dry. My brushes look great. never stand the brushes up... the wood can get spoiled or the glue can loosen. I wash the brushes I use alot about 1x a week. also I have a pretty little fingertip towel I keep next to my make up .. and I gently brush off excess color after each use. ( wash the little towel about 1x week) hope that helps <3

i heard baby shampoo & ive seen it in a lot of youtube videos, funny this topic came up cos i purchased the elf brush shampoo for $3 and just used it about 10 mins, it works fine to me (:

I always suggest that my clients clean their brushes with their face wash. Some people use shampoo and other brush cleansers that may be to harsh on your skin and break you out (since you do - in turn - use your brushes on your face again). Because you use your face cleanser every day, you know that it wont cause an adverse reaction in the skin. I alternate between Clean Energy from Origins and Mineral Melt from Pur Minerals because the oil breaks down the makeup and it's super gentle for the most sensitive skin types. I also have a brush cleansing video showing different products I use for different brush types...you might want to give that a glance.

I don't buy brush cleaners, you can easily make them at home and they work just as well! I made a post on a DIY brush cleaner and how to clean them: http://colourbymakeup.blogspot.com/2011/09/how-to-clean-your-brushes-and-diy-brush.html

I like to use Cetaphil for normal to oily skin - it gets the brushes really clean with out harsh detergent feel of shampoo

Baby shampoo for deep cleaning, Smashbox brush cleaner (soon to be MAC's) for spot cleaning.

@Andrew: When my Smashbox cleaner runs out, I intend to decant my MAC into that, as the Smashbox one is in a spray bottle. Another tip I picked up (I think it's via Soma on here?) is you can use one part cleaner to two parts water in a spray bottle, and that will help the MAC cleaner last longer.

I use baby shampoo for deep cleaning.. and Beauty So Clean's brush cleanser... it's amazing!

I recommend using antibacterial dish soap along with olive oil to condition your brushes. It always does the trick for me ( and it is also cheap ).

I use Mona Lisa's Pink Soap since it was recommended to me by another Beautylisher.

hey :) i use horse shampoo and it does a great job for a fraction of the price !

I use Japonesque brush cleaner(smells amazing and works better than any other cleaners I've tried) for daily cleaning and a cheap 2-in-1 shampoo&conditioner for deep cleaning.
