I cut my hair short a couple of months ago and now I want my long hair back (haha go figure) So I want to get some extensions, but I don't want to spend $200+ So I am thinking of getting clip ins, any suggestions on brands? (I'm not partial to human hair, Synthetic will work too as long as it looks real) Thanks :)

wever you do make sure you get human hair it's better to style! Synthetic will burn after a while or if it has too much heat! If you would like to you can purchase $100% human hair from any beauty supply what part of NJ are you from? I know a place in hackensack that sells them already made for about $150 I usually just buy the 100% human hair in the pack & make them myself & end up spending about $55max.

I'm from south jersey, Avalon :/ all the good stuff is in North Jersey! lol I am heading up to Short Hills though next week, I went to the beauty supply down here (it's the worst!) The girls were not helpful at all- and they only had wigs, and some loose hair (not tracks) How do you make them yourself?

I buy the hair in a pack they have the tracking on the loose hair and then I buy the clips and sew them on usually 3 or 4 clips on one track keeps it pretty sturdy :)

My recommendation: http://www.youtube.com/user/doctoredlocks

I've visited their salon in Spokane, WA before and LOVE it. Inexpensive extensions.

Their youtube channel is filled with lots of informative videos.

I only order mine from www.foxylocksextensions.com. They're human hair and very thick.

Human hair extensions will always look much better than synthetic. (You can pretty much tell synthetic hair pieces from miles away.) If you plan on wearing your extensions often, most definitely get 100% human hair. Remi grade hair. And remember to put some kind of moisturizing product on your extensions every once in a while or they will get split ends! I keep mine in the original bag after using a smoothing serum.

I suggest making two to three layers of tracks to make your wefts. This adds more density and makes your extensions work so much better. Stitch them right below the other (not directly on top so you get a thick weft that'll stick out when you clip them in) every centimeter or so.

When clipping in, tease the sections of your hair that you want to place the clips on and spray with hair spray. This will allow the clips to get a better grip on your hair.

Thanks @Bonnie, @Yasmin and @Melissa! Very informative! @Ashley- I'm a little nervous to order online only because I want to make sure the color matches- my hair is highlighted all over- and I'm more blonde than brown, so I just want to make sure they match- how are they with their return policy?
