So I had this idea that I've been wanting to experiment with for a long time! I saw someone on tumblr that had a pen pal and it looked so fun!
I was wondering if any of you ladies and gentlemen would be interested in having a pen-pal relationship? Not necessarily with me, but I would looove if the whole community here got involved! Maybe it's just me, but the idea of sending packages that include personal notes, favourite products, and cute small gifts seems like the cutest thing ever, and would make all of our relationships here so much more personal!
Let me know what you guys think about this idea :)

That sounds like a really great, fun idea. Set a budget and then have a list of beauty friends to send products that you love to. I would love to do that!

I feel like it would be a lot more fun than a swap because you can get to know people, send things other than beauty products, and possibly meet life-long friends! Once I have the funds I would love to get started on this project with someone :)

I'm interested sooooooo, how do we do this;???

I would say just to approach someone on here and ask them if they'd be interested! I think the safest way possible is to exchange contact information (facebook, e-mail) so you can talk it over. Using a PO box is always the safest way when dealing with people you meet online, but I *think* it costs money to have one. Just remember to be careful with your personal information and have FUN with what you send each other! Don't worry about spending a ton or making a good impression by sending all name brand products, each of us love different high end brands but just as many of us swear by many drugstore brands! I think the best way to save money on more expensive items (if you choose to send them) is to purchase the travel size products or ask the store if they carry samples of it, that way your pen pal can try it, and if they like it, spend the money themselves.

This is actually a good ideal. Many of us probably already have tons of makeup that have not been used and need to give away just because we don't need it, lol so it would be fun to have someone to give it away to.

I agree with Gennett! I have a ton of stuff that I could share! Also I think it would be cool to get someone with a different skin type than me. It will put some fun and thought in picking out products to send!

Or even like doing it once/twice a month and sending your favorite product at the time! There are so many cool/interesting ways we could do this.

I trust doing it a lot more on here than on Makeup alley..the ONE time I ended up swapping on there, I got jipped.. BAD. I guess it was stupid on my part to think I could trust people when they had full profiles and were conversing back and forth and had a list of Swap items - I didn't know at the time the GREAT lengths some of those people go to try and fool you and yeah, I got fooled. Whoever she was, got a nice Hello Kitty limited edition lipstick and I got nothing. Once it happened I was told by people on the site that there is nothing you can do because the girl deleted her entire profile and everything right after I told you I shipped it.. from then on, I never swapped ever again on there.. sucks.

That's why getting to know someone on a more personal level i.e. facebook you become friends, learn all about them and their friends and build a internet relationship then it can flourish to even better opportunities: making friends, learning new cultures, getting great beauty advice, swapping/trading, and becoming life long friends.

Aww I love this idea. So cool :) I would need to get a PO Box first! But I love the idea of swapping makeup and sending cute things. If anyone is interested in being pen pals with me, send me an email..my contact info is listed on my page. :)
