I am absolutly horrid in front of a video camera, but I love teaching people little tips and tricks that I know so I do picture step by step tutorials rather than video tutorials. I was just wondering what you all prefer - Picture or Video? Or do you like both?

I like both definitely! Ideally a video with pictures added in :)

Video, I honestly hate photos (no offense to photo people) It's just I feel like I don't get as much detail and such

I'm not too into photo videos, but I do watch them if I need to. I feel that video tutorials are much more engaging. I was pretty stiff and goofy in front of the camera for a good 15 videos, but you eventually get used to it....but I still can't watch my first few videos. :o

Photos don't demonstrate technique - more of which products to use and product placement. Videos fill the gap for those too nervous to try a look on their own. =)

I like both. Picture tutorials are only good or helpful if the picture quality is good though.

photo tuts are useless, they don't show you anything. i used to do it myself, and soon realised that people need to be able to see what i am doing!

If you don't like talking in font of the camera try filming and adding captions and taking out the sound and replace it with music. However people get to know you better if your talking to them in a video. Try practicing in front of a mirror or just filming a bunch of simple things for practice. I have scrapped quite a few things and hawked it up to practicing.

I actually prefer photo tutorials over video tutorials in terms of seeing each actual step when it comes to color placement. Most people do prefer video tutorials because of how much easier it is but if you're not yet comfortable with recording yourself picture tutorials are perfectly fine!

i like both. videos to see the exact technique and photos to see exactly what your using. if your still uncomfortable for a whole video...you can edit out and replace with music or whatnot. or you can practice in front of the mirror or an audience(family, friends, kids, boyfriend, dog, etc) until you feel extremely comfortable. good luck!

Im more in to video tutorials because you can explain exactly what you mean and show aswell.
If your not comfortable infront of the camera tho then picture is fine. Just make sure you explain how to do it properly as iv read some picture tutorials and sometimes i cant understand how they got from 1 stage to another =P

I say videos, because just showing the end result of each step doesn't really help. For me, I am terrible with using black eyeshadow, so if you were doing a look that need to blend some black, I wouldn't know how to do it. In a video I can see your technique in placing it as well as blending it.
However I prefer videos that show a close up picture after each step so you can really see in detail how it should be. Sometimes I do what a video does, but it still doesn't come out right because I can't really see how much or how little it should be blended, or see how they should look blended. So to post a quick picture after you're done applying or blending the color, even if it's only up for 3 seconds, it helps. I can always pause it as I'm going to make sure I'm on track as far as how my outcome is going.
So I prefer videos with pictures, I feel they cover all the bases and are extremely helpful.
