Not even Buying ingredients to Companies that TEST ON ANIMALS....

How do you find companies w/ ingredients not tested on Animals? It seems like you can only find brands w/ the final product not tested. Just curious. :)

hey christina! i stopped buying products that tested on animals pretty recently, though i still use my old ones. i won't be repurchasing them though. i wrote a blog post on it. http://abbieb527.blogspot.com/

and can you guys please list your fave mac products in my recent post? pleeease thank you! :)

Abbie - but I think that that just means the final product isn't tested - It's found that many, many ingredients in cosmetics are tested on animals before the actual brand gets a hold of them. I've wanted to know about the ones that don't all together but it seems really hard to find that info. It's a headache. haha

i totally agree with you andrea! yes, it's hard work, but IMO, i'd rather spend 20 minutes of research and not harm a living thing. no offense to anyone, but that's just the way i see it. :)

I wish I would stop using products tested on animals, but it's too hard for me. :(

Hey Andrea, Kayla, Abbie, Erica I recently made my strong decision, because I love all kind of animals, and I love my planet, so I haven't realize all the damage that it's out there! And I'm not influenced. It just got me, there's an awesome YT Guru, her name is Grace, the channel its cosmeticcouturier and she's vegan, cf, guru. And of course I will still use all the stuff that I have but as Abbie won't be repurch.... I know it's so hard but not impossible, and spend a little bit of time may save thousands, millions of lives!!

I stopped purchasing products tested on animals several months ago. I still use the products I already had prior to making my decision, but will no longer repurchase. L'oreal was one of my fave brands, but I will no longer buy anything from that brand!
After watching vids and reading articles about the things that these poor animals go through, it's sickening. I just can't believe this nonsense still goes on in this day and age with all of the technology that is available out there!
I'm happy there are others out there who are making the decision to no longer purchase cosmetics or other products that are tested on animals!! Makes me happy!

I think OCC is a cruelty free brand. And veagan too! I don't use all vegan products but it's still cool. Sayanythingbr00ke (if any of you watch her) is having a giveaway for charity, for a local animal shelter, which is how I found out about them being cruelty free. I did a blog post on it trying to spread the word, you all should check it out :)

PETA = hypocrites, not to mention their tactics are shameful (and many a time extremely idiotic), IMO.
http://www.petakillsanimals.com/
http://www.peta.org/features/Ingrid-Newkirks-Unique-Will.aspx (the will of the founder of PETA... not a joke; she's serious about what she wants done to her after she dies.)
http://forwardtodeath.wordpress.com/2007/10/25/are-peta-hypocrites/ (a very good analysis, I think)
Anyway. At some point, almost EVERY ingredient in our cosmetics has been tested on an animal. Is it a good thing? No. But no one's come up with a viable alternative to animal testing in regards to individual ingredients. (I like to think some company would've by now; we're in the 21st century, for goodness sake.)
I like animals. I use as many products from cruelty-free brands as I can. However, it is very difficult to go 100% cruelty-free, IMO. The only way to do that, I'm thinking, would be to stop wearing makeup, full stop.

Smashley, Jackee: I'm so happy too, making the decision!, I agree that how can it be possible not feel pity for the little creatures... I support PETA, GREENPEACE..And all the organizations that do something for the enviroment!! &Gracey: I saw her video that´s an amazing thing to do, I do it here on my City too with a group called People for Animals, last week I took out of the streets a 8mo old puppy girl and found a home for her!! I have 3 poms and a homeless breedless girl!!
Glad to meet you guys!! and Thanks for sharing...
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!

Omg, I just read that article @Shelly T posted and it completely grossed me out. It's great to have a passion for something, but that is way too extreme and disgusting. (the 2nd link)

Just be aware that many companies that are so-called cruelty free may have purchased their ingredients from companies that are not. To be perfectly honest I once saw someone argue that even if you're 100% vegan the fact remains as a human being everything we do, consume and use harms the environment and animals. I remember once seeing a video showing how even vegetables that are harvest harms snakes, mice, birds and other animals living in the fields or trees. If you truly want to be 100% cruelty free to animals when it comes to makeup then it means not to wear any.

I think Urban Decay and OOC Cosmetics do vegan and cruelty free products.
If you look on the peta site, they have a link to all products both cruel and cruelty free. I was actually upset when I found out all the products that DO test on animals.

Shelley: that was shocking! I thought PETA was a good organization, but I guess not. I will say this in regards to it being hard to go 100% CT: I agree. It's hard. Not impossible, but really, really hard. I can not say that I buy only from brands that don't test on animals in any stage of the making of the product, because that's really not possible for me. I would love to, and I guess the intention does count. We would all love to, but again, the only way to be 100% is to not wear makeup. :(

I was looking at the list and most of the soaps, toothpastes, deodorants, etc I use are testing on animals so I'd be one nasty girl if I stopped using products tested on animals.

I've always known that Peta is a very hypocritical company. They're nothing but trouble - even around the days I was vegan I didn't knew PETA wasn't a reliable source. Nerkirk's Will is ridiculous. I think it's safe to say she's out of her mind.
Jul 9, 2011
Isabelina B.
@Erica - yeah. when i started out, i got my mom to get me a new toothpaste- some organic stuff - and I couldn't sleep after brushing my teeth with that. I get that they test on animals, but come on. i need my sleep and my teeth not to smell like vegetables. haha. it's sad that there's not many mainstream

Isn't Nerkirk the woman who is a diabetic and use to use insulin made from pigs? Yet she's so against animals in medical testing and products despite needing it to stay alive. If it wasn't her it was one of her main spokespeople.

I think I have to do a deeper search...
Didn't know about the dark side of Peta...
The only thing that I can say it's that every
body has a their own opinion & believe and
the decision to buy or not diffrent cosmetics,
And I respect. But for me it's a goal to Not
contribute to harm the planet where we live,
saving water, electricity, recycling....etc..
I believe if I can do something even it's a little
thing, and forget about myself and think in others
It counts.
(Excuse my writing, it's my 2nd language)
