even if they did recognize you and it wasn't a promotion there isnt anything they could do n if they ever treated you differently then they are going to loose your custom so i think you will be fine to go back to the counter

new saleswomen bother me so much! i know we all start SOMEWHERE at some point, but its so frustrating when they dont know what they are doing. i have had such bad experiences where i'd ask about a product and they would be clueless or pretend like they knew... i'd ask about a product and its pigmentation or whatnot and id go home and try it and be so disappointed.

it's frustrating with someone new but i remember starting my new job (even though it's not in make up.. its still retail though!) and being really confused about where things where or how to use them. for the first three months i was there, i told everyone i was new and thats why i was having trouble. they immediately understood and were a lot nicer about it! it's good to say youre new haha or else you really do end up looking silly

I mean it wasnt your fault... I had that happen to me at LUSH once the girl was told to give me a sample but she couldnt fine a knife to cut the soap with so she gave me a huge chunk instead... I felt bad but it wasnt my fault i didnt know till I worked at LUSH that what she had done was wrong. I still go back to that counter all the time!

If they were to recognize you, treating you differently could loose your business and most of them work off commission or have a required amount of sales to earn within a timeframe so they wouldnt risk that. I used to work at Dillards and someone put a markdown sticker on some expensive stretch mark cream and I worked accessories so when they came to the counter I rang up the order and thought nothing of it until I later found out that that stuff didnt get marked down. They just marked it out the system and thought nothing of it, lol.

What are they gonna do? Make you give it back? I wouldn't worry bout it. :D

I wouldn't worry about it either. It was a mistake. Even if you did give it back they most likely would just throw it out. Makeup counters/stores never restock returned merchandise.
