Frost has a frosty shimmer, Lustre is loose and glittery in its texture kind of chunky, Matte is a straight up flat color no shimmer or just pack it on, Satin is like matte with the tiniest bit of shimmer in the flat color, Veluxe pearl is the most pigmented, shimmery but not frosty, Velvet is is not glittery but shimmery and the most blendable. I did find a great article for you! http://outinapout.blogspot.com/2011/03/mac-eye-shadow-finish-descriptions.html I hope I helped you out.

Hi love, former mac artist here. Here's the break down of the textures:
Frost - Very Shimmery in finish. Colors range from barely frosted to highly frosted. Contains very small bits of mica to deliver shine. Goes on very smooth.
Lustre - Has a lot of glitter chunks in it (large bits of mica). Typically does not go on smoothly. (in my opinion, mac's worst formula)
Matte - No shine, no mica. Provides a rich, saturated color without shine in an even, easy to blend, long lasting formula. Goes on smooth(usually).
Satin - Delivers a smooth, high color payoff with a very subtle light-reflective sheen.
Velvet - Has the smoothest texture and delivers high intensity color and a soft velvety finish. Has sheen to it.
Veluxe - Matte in finish, but go on silky smooth. A little easier to work with than a normal matte.
Veluxe Pearl - Frosty in finish, goes on buttery smooth.
hope that helps!
