I don't understand how all the girls who work at mac look so perfect. like their skin is absolutely flawless and pore free ALL the time and when I ask what products to get I never look like that after. what am I doing wrong?

I know exactly what you mean! lol. Maybe it's their method of application that has them looking so darn perfect, I don't know.

It's definitely their technique! I attended a MAC class and we watched one of the girls apply a full face of makeup and she taught us different techniques and what not :)

Please share Ashley lol.. I remember one girl told me she had a lot of uneven skin tone and seriously you couldn't tell by looking at her perfect makeup! She told me she uses the liquid concealer as a foundation and I was amazed!

Well, for starters she used a lot of MAC Fix +. Although it isn't a setting spray it would give her foundation a more dewy look. Also, it does depend on what type of brush you're using for your foundation and powder!

It's probably because they have access to all of the products and tool.

Methods/techniques of application. I'm a MAC artist myself... I apply my foundations differently depending on the weather here in the Midwest.

Well I would definitely love to know some tips and tricks if Ud like to share! I buy all the products they say they use to achieve their look but I still don't look like that! lol.

They have access and awesome discounts on the products. Plus, MAC sends them to MAC school when they get hired. It has to have something to do with their techniques on applying the makeup.

Its their way of marketing their products, since they look sooooo amazing the customer will want everything they have on their face, that means $$$$$$$$$. been there done that,

I agree with erica completely, its just not the product, technique is equally important, you can get crazy compliments wearing even $5 worth products instead of $50 just by correct application.

I've seen some that look a little sloppy but those were in the department stores lol.

Well today I applied my full face and spritzed a generous amount of mac fix+ and I have to say it looks much more like a look they would have.

Most products do awesome on good skin... so having a normal skincare regime is key. Find something that works for you and stick with it. I apply, with my fingers, a pea size amount of my personal favorite primer, Smashbox Photofinish, concentrating on my t-zone. Then I pump two pumps of foundation (I use MAC Studio Sculpt, which is medium coverage and will give you the nicest dewy finish or Studio Fix Fluid for a full coverage kinda day) to the back of my hand, and use Tarte's airbrush finish bamboo foundation brush pick up some product, place a little all over my face and then go back and buff in small circular motions so that it'll blend right into the skin. Don't forget to blend down the jawline. Then set your makeup with a finely milled powder such as Ben Nye Banana powder or MAC Set Powder. For this part, I like to place the powder with a round puff, let it sit for a minute and then go back and dust with a powder brush. This is one method of many for me...

I used mac studio fix fluid in nw10, pro longwear concealer, mac prep n prime pressed powder, mineralize skinfinish natural in light plus, the new extra definition in double definition as bronzer, definitely defined as highlighter, and the extra definition blush in fiery impact. I used pretty please lipstick and the urban decay naked palette on the eyes with chanel le volume mascara, sprayed a generous amount of fix+ and I am quite pleased with the final look.

I agree with Kabao! I was at the mac counter this weekend and the woman helping me had amazing shadow/lashes but very troubled skin and it was obvious even under all the layers. Your face looks flawless Amanda 👏 love the hair!

I usually use the clinique three step system for dry to combination skin but I have begun using my mac studio cream and mineral eye cream and its much more hyrdating and make up seems to apply better and have a better finish.

I use to manage for fashion fair and Elizabeth Arden. The ladies and gents at the Mac counter use to always give us tips. Most of it is based off of technique, then products.

A friend of mine was working at our local MAC store and said she had the first 1/2hr of her shift to do her makeup. As Sarah A. mentioned, they are marketing the brand and even I have bought a product or two that looked amazing on the girl helping me. I'm not sure if its standard to have that 1/2hr but it makes sense.
