My nails are awful. Horrible. Uglu. I bite them and the cuticles look.like they got hit by a train. My friend wants to give me a manicure next week but my nails are so embarrassing. Any tips that will improve my nail condition in a week?

I do not want to go to a nail salon. Its incredibly unsanitary and the people are rude. Its just...no.

And I've tried both cuticle oil and a strengthening top coat. Neither work!

Buy some nail growth formula at your nearest drug store.

You should stay away from acitone polish remover. They also sell nail polish and clear coat that helps to stop biting nails as well as nail strengthening polish and clear coat. Also, soak them in Luke warm water and a bit of protein powder. Most importantly, if your nails are that bad, the manicure is what will probably help them the best.

When ever you want to bite your nails sit on them that's what I do ;) I haven't bit them in a week but if the urge is to strong then just act like your about to bite but don't go all the way thru.

Heat some virgin olive oil (just a little) and rub into nails and skin around cover nails for 15 min.

You can't expect treatment polishes and cuticle lotions and oils to work right away. you have to use them religiously and learn how to manicure your cuticles and take care of those little cuts and pieces of skin. I learned everything by watching YouTube videos on nail routines and reading about nail anatomy and proper nail care. my nails and cuticles were never as bad as yours, but by doing all those thing I now have very nails and cuticles.
